Summer has just flown by, and now we're snug in the middle of autumn, so it's time to curl up with a good gaming book next to a warm fire! Our goblin spies have reported back (though they were delayed by a barrel of pickles)—Black Friday approaches! Time to set up an ambush for it! In this surprise round, you'll get first dibs on our older products, a chance to grab them before they go out of stock forever! We've broken our list down into five parts for you, but act soon: these aren't going to come back. When they're gone, they're gone!

That's not actually the inventory - that's the 'almost gone' stuff at low inventory.

A lot of the early AP's are getting scarce, and Runelords and Crimson Throne were both early stars.

Not that I know of, but the Paizo message boards are HUGE.
So, I'm sure somebody has created a thread about it.
If I come across anything I'll let you know.

Out of Print PF stuff (unavailable on their site):
PF #1 Rise of the Runelords Ch 1 - Burnt Offerings
PF #3 Rise of the Runelords Ch 3 - Hook Mtn Massacre
PF #5 Rise of the Runelords Ch 5 - Sins of the Saviors
PF #6 Rise of the Runelords Ch 6 - Spire of Xin-Shalast
PF Companion - Cheliax, Empire of Devils

Everything else is still purchasable from their site, though I think a few are second printings.

I like what I've read about Rise of the Runelords.
Time to start scouring the local bookstores.
I've seen some of those still on the shelf.
At $20 a pop, though, I never could bring myself to buy them.
But the release of the PF BB has made me re-think all of that.

thanks for the heads-up.

You might need to do some conversions (not much though) if you want to run RotRL as it was written for 3.5 and not for Pathfinder.  As a side note, there is an alternate cover for the first module (IIRC) that was released at Gen Con that year.

I don't know much about Paizo's history.

So, did they start out doing 3.5 material and then develop Pathfinder sometime thereafter?

They were originally the company that produced the last years of Dungeon Magazine (as well as Dragon).  When WotC decided to drop a physical magazine product they saw the opportunity to continue providing quality gaming materials to their customer base (and not have to refund all those subscription fees).  Their use of a subscription style method to sell products has been successful (espescially since they include a PDF copy of the product for free if you sub to a line) afaik and they have expanded it to include the hardcover/flip mat/and other lines that they carry.

The 3.5 material later gave way to Pathfinder but IIRC the first 2 or 3 adventure paths were done using the 3.5 rules.  Once they released the core rule book they were able to build on that.

A space saving (and book selling) technique that has developed for them is not placing stat blocks for monsters in the newer modules, instead they reference the book and page the information can be found in.  They use the assumption that if you are playing you have access to all the material or are willing to modify the AP to fit what you do have access to.

They're going to do a collected version of Runelords - deleting some of the ancillary bestiary/etc items, it sounds like.

Sunrunner44 - helpful.

Well, judging from the high quality and sheer volume of their products it appears they have been successful.
Those glossy, illustrated books and booklets are not cheap to produce.

At first blush the subscription notion seemed a little surprising (from what I hear, magazine subscriptions are lousy these days).
But then again, people subscribe to tons of stuff, from diet plans to Netflix.

Thanks for the background.
I remember (vaguely) that Dungeon and Dragon had become e-mags, but my interest in D&D was at low tide around that time.

Good.  I'll probably buy it.
It reminds me of GDQ1-7.

There were four 3.5 adventure paths:
Rise of the Runelords
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Second Darkness
Legacy of Fire

The Pathfinder RPG APs began with Council of Thieves.
Note that the Runelords compiled hardback will be the only compiled hardback, for various reasons- primarily, that next year is the 10th anniversary of Paizo, and 5th anniversary of the adventure paths.
Don't wait for the other three to be updated/compiled!

I misread the release date (God, I need eyeglasses).
I probably will not buy the compilation since Runelord chapters are still on the shelves at various bookstores.
That, fwiw, is my favorite way to collect:
Bookstores, hobby shops, garage sales, flea markets, etc.

I appreciate the Paizo history lesson.
That helps put everything into context.

If the question is do I collect Pathfinder? then the answer is a resounding no!

If d20 did nothing for me, I see no reason to continue with more nothing.

Those who can, don't. Those who should not, do.
