aside: If you hadn't already noticed, Brette, I deliberately let the head-to-head eBay bidding go without too much of a fight, since I personally do not wish to see those go any higher than they already are.

Whereas some other people are still in "win at any price" mode, I see. :)

So much for that general observation: gotta be a record for a couple o' Thunderbankrupts... ^^

(Enjoy! They're somewhat better than the DL crew would've had people believe, IMHO...).

With or without the frame?
Heh, heh... I was so tempted to ask the seller to see whether they'd take a pic of the 'zine without the frame. (And to see what's written on the paper behind it... honest. ^^ )

Hadn't spotted the loser of the recent WD reprint auction was onto this one now. Should be good for another £25 or so, then. :)

I actually asked that since the postage was £7 (whereas 1st class delivery with card and padding might top out at, oooh, £2.75) - was he intending to send the frame:  he said that he might  (??)

*g*. Is the frame worth £4.25, anyhow? :)

50-50 there's horizontal creasing across the foot of the 'zine where the edge of the frame has it gripped in position: can just see a little lower-spine stress that would indicate it has been hung up.

NOO-OOO-OOOOOOO.... (to quote the Jack Chick link over on DF just now *g*)

Whoever says these binders are rather neatly designed has never purchased a collection where they were actually stood upright (as was surely the intention).

If, as a seller, you wanted insurance against something being damaged in transit, I'd say the £7 is fair on account of the weight and nature of the frame.

Even if you take it out thye frame, ditch the frame, and ship only the magazine in a padded envelope with a couple of sheets of cardboard, you're looking at very little change out of a £5 note.

As a buyer, you may complain about the shipping cost, because if you don't want insurance, you can still screw the seller if it arrives damaged or goes missing. But as a seller you have to assume the product may get dammaged or go missing and force the buyer to pay for suitable packing and insurance regardless of whether or not they say they wont shaft you.

I thought about joing the fight too but $54 for a couple of issues got a bit out of hand for me.  I'm sure Brette will appreciate them more too.

I'd thought Brette already had those, given that they're only medium-rare. ;)
Oh well, still some to collect. ^^

Fencert still has cases of the stuff I believe. I was thinking about buying a bunch of this stuff for resale but man, it might take a decade and a half to get rid of it all!!!!  Even at cheap prices. But if you want bulk he is definitely the man to go to for JG stuff.

Fencert bought (literally) a cargo container of JG stuff.  Most of it has found its way into eager hands...including some very rare and/or interesting items.

Many guys here have dealt with him...including one who bought a giant chunk for the UK market.
