buyers bear in mind tho, the extra lil bit he adds in the listing "They even have an authentic basement smell (not too bad :) )"

worth noting as it could quite well affect the amount you would bid.

Well, being a big Cosmic Encounter fan has me interested in the fate of this auction:

Eight sealed CE expansions

But, still, I don't know ... it's a nice lot and all (it's a great lot, actually), but $500 is an awfully steep opener. Most of my CE stuff is no longer sealed, so I'm somewhat interested; I'm just not sure I'm that interested. I'm pretty sure I'm not. Maybe. I think. Sort of.

A set like this sold last fall or summer. They were not all shrinked like this one, but did have all 9 expansions. I am pretty sure it went for $400 plus.

Unless there was more than one "all nine expansions" sale last summer (entirely possible, I guess), I was the buyer on the lot you mention.

I wish I would have saved the link or made a print-out, but it was something like $411 plus about $25 to ship (and keep in mind that I also got a nice copy of the base game for that price). Most everything was in great shape, although a small percentage of the pieces had writing on them.

That's a great Cosmic lot that is currently counting down — I'm just saying that $500 for an opener is a pretty big psychological barrier.

And the $500 opener won't meet his Reserve.   :(

Probably the same auction.

I can certainly understand you hesitation in dropping at least $500 on that auction. But, that is a very unique auction.  You are not going to see it duplicated very often it at all...

Although I have to admit I love CE.  Definately one of my favorites from the good old days.

I saw the basement bit, and it did affect the amount I bid - but even with a possibly musty smell, I thought $70 was still a pretty good price.

When i read the description originally though it seemed to me the musty smell referred only to the two zines included with the auction - or perhaps that was just me being optimistic. Either way, will find out when the package arrives.

Regards

Mike
