Yes, but I find it more difficult to be frightened when the Fungi From Yuggoth appear and scream, Le roar! Avec les roars beau coup!

You're kidding but Cthulhu with a hat and boots in leather is not frightening too :)

ok ok, Cthulhu with a "camembert" and a "baguette de pain" is ... hum hum ... how to say it...

Anyway, it is a very interesting context to play, with a lot of very great informations about this period in France. And stuff is wonderfull. Published only in France, and in french.

for french speaking, more details here
Toc Erreur

strangely, there is no entry for it on yog-sothoth.com  :o

Actually, several of the King in Yellow stories are set in Paris...and they are eery enough.

I just can't see an ectomorphic French academic writing:

"I write these words in the knowledge that my time is short.  The shadows close in upon me even now, as I write by candlelight at my study desk.  The wind is moaning at the shutters and there are alien voices calling out there.  It will not be long now.  They are coming for me.

I must write, but I beg you not to read these lines lest you too discover the madness that reaches for us out from out of the eons.  It is far too late for me...but you may be saved if you burn this letter and the entire contents of my study.  I warn you, D'Arnot...I implore you...do not continue my research!"

Well, actually...maybe...

It is the same problem for us when we read english novels... if we read them in french, english names seems to be stranges and inappropriate. Or when french games are translated in english, like Ambre  :?  or Agone...
but if you want you just have to give english names to french folks :)

Anyway it is a real collector item, one of the most difficult (certainly the most) non-limited product to find for CoC

Don't bother. I looked 'em over. Not a single piece in either lot worth more than $10, and most of 'em are a buck or two each at yard sales. And no shipping price available unless you ask.

It's not really roleplaying but a lot of us are into it... forgive me if this is out of bounds. ;>

Do you play Settlers of Catan? Here's a rare version with distilleries (ebay, about 1 day to go)

Wasser des Lebens

btw, one went for $240 at GenCon 2005, very hard to find.

Wow — way rare.

I had it on my eBay search list for well over a year before I just gave up. And, with needing to pay off other purchases, I'll be letting this one go by, too. *sigh*

You gotta love that bottle of booze, too. I can't think of a single D&D product that came packaged with actual liquor ... although some should have.

It is the 1st printing..(though the 2nd printing is only different by way of the cover as noted below)

Notes: There are two variations of this module, There was an initial printing of 5,000 Iron Wind's on that golden parchtext with a B&W cover and interiors. After it had been selling for a few months the distributors talked ICE into doing a color cover so Pete Fenlon drew the color cover using an overlay process and they stripped the B&W cover off the remainder of the first printing and bound the new color covers back on them.
The differences in the front covers are; the black and white cover has a rendering of the fortress of Systax. It is drawn from a similar perspective as a small picture inside the cover of the color version, but is larger in size and signed RB rather than PCF. The only words on the black and white version are "The Iron Wind ©Iron Crown Enterprises 1980." No mention of a unique fantasy campaign or contents as found on the color cover.
Inside front cover: blank in the black and white version. The color version describes the Iron Wind as the first in the Loremaster Series, and has the above mentioned small picture of Systax.
Inside back cover: blank in black and white version. Large picture of Syrkakar in color version.
Back cover: Large picture of Syrkakar in black and white version. Color map from page 35 on color version.

You'll find the three editions here.

http://www.afterglow2.com/Product/Iron.htm

The 2nd Edition seems to be rarer than the first, but the 1st edition commands the highest price. Should go for $30-40 without a problem.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

A cluster of Underworld Oracles posted here: eBay listings

Not in great condition, but they caught my eye since it's a seller here in sunny Madison, Wisconsin.  From the seller ID I'm wondering if it's one of the second-hand bookstore owners here in town.

Heh, heh... no! :)

The seller should check to see whether he's selling his first print copies and keeping later prints, though.
