Came across this timeline of wargames publishing from
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~beattie/timeline2.html

"...1975.. Miniature Figurines releases Pirates of the Spanish Main..."

Anyone know anything about this line? Was it metal or plastic?

Nice link about the history...

RPG’s, D&D in particular has had a major influence in my life. It’s bonded me together with life long friends...it’s that bond in life not just as friends, but in our jokes, our mannerisms, and what we find funny. Invincible Overlord

..Leo Cronin first to suggest in print, fantasy gaming, in particular a "mythical war game" based on the Fellowship of the Ring. In Wargamers Newsletter..

1969 ..David Wesley, Midwest Military Simulation Association, runs first fantasy role-playing game..

1970 ..NEWA display first large scale fantasy miniatures game, Middle Earth, at MFCA gaming convention..
..Wargamer's Newsletter announces availability of 20 sided dice and has article on electronic random number generator..
