Hopefully it will be ready by the summer of 2011, instead of 2010.

Should be nice. Are you able to include some of the ones (not many) that were, allegedly, not allowed to be done again like carrion moth?

Those who can, don't. Those who should not, do.

Lets see;

1. free pdf w/ real book, yes

2. New art would add $25k to the cost of the book; sorry guys, I just don't have $25,000 in my account for that. There may be a few pieces though, to replace what I consider to be the truly weak art pieces in the originals.

3. Color interiors would add about $30k to the production cost for say, 500 books. I don't have that much money either (unless all of you buy lots and lots of our other stuff...jk, there is no way I can come up with $55,000).

4. It will be the whole set; I think body count is near 1000 monsters.

5. Scott and Erica may add a few new ones.

6. I wanted it all in one books for serious "thud" factor. I can also stitch bind it this way for durability. I may do some sort of special cover (leather or faux leather). Still looking at options and price. i want this thing to be "Necronomican" scary like the book in the Evil Dead series. The DM should be able to say "This is my Boom Stick".

7. I really want to keep the price under $100--not sure if I can (talked w/ printer this am to get a work up on 1000 pages @ 500 copies for first run), but I am trying like heck to do so. The pdf will be much cheaper--probably $40 or so.

8. S&W is a retroclone (0e), and totally SRD legal--1e would not be, per se. Illusionists for example are not in the SRD. All TOH material IMO is open content. Suffice to say that Clark will rise from the Abyss to vett the legality of all:)

Feel free to ask other questions if you like; I'll try to answer them:)

Bill

I'm not Clark, but on the issue of the Tome of Horrors being open game content, according to my copy of Tome of Horrors revised, the entire book is open with the exception of the artwork and the credits section for each monster. Each monster though is going to have to be cited individually in your S15 of the OGL (pursuant to pages 450-451 of the aforementioned book). Just the S15 cites alone is going to be 16 pages of the book, assuming 10pt text.

Definite thud factor. The legalese will knock me dead.

P.S. I misread your post. I should have realized you would know the content is open. However, the artwork is not. Did you get clearance from Clark to reuse the artwork? My comment about the S15 though I think is still relevant.

I edited as you replied. Did you get clearance from Clark to reuse the artwork, since that isn't open game content?

Yes--remember I own 50% of Necromancer as well. Clark is on board with the whole thing, yes.

he will also edit legal etc. if i learned nothing from working with Clark for 10 years (and wow--I have known him for almost 30) its to be careful w/ legal.

Honestly, I don't pay attention to companies that much. I had no idea who you were.

It's cool.

I just kept going when RL took Clark out of the industry. I created a separate entity to separate IP form Necro is all:)
