Hi,

to anyone who bought from Chaosium recently using a credit card, the site appears unsafe:

Cheers,

Wow.  That's just downright scary.  8O

Just noticed the softcover version of the new reprint of Masks of Nyarlathotep is down to $23.07 on Amazon. It was $25 a few days ago. Cheaper than from Chaosium, even when they were having their sale (~$26, IIRC). Probably safer to order from as well...

If anybody has ordered recently on the Chaosium web site using your credit card check your transactions.
There is a current thread on the Yog-Sothoth forum where several people have third party charges for large amounts placed on their cards after ordering from Chaosium.
It appears that their web site might be compromised.

Edit: Oops! Should have read the whole thread here.
I see that Malc has already addressed the issue.

Check out my Chaosium sourcebook.

I always try to use paypal when available. Ordered the masks hardcover at Chaosium with paypal as well so no problem on my account luckily.

But this is indeed pretty scary and seeing the Yog forum, there seems to be little to no reply so far from Chaosium.

I imagine there would legal liabilities involved in doing so. Anything they say now could be used against them in the future.

I ordered a few things from Chaosium a month ago and somebody nailed me for $1000.00 worth of computer equipment.  I never knew where the fraud came from, but now it makes sense. I guess I should have used Paypal.

Hmmm, my last order with Chaosium was April 27th, 2010, so hopefully no issue there.  I just changed my pw there, just in case, though.

Yes - PayPal is the only way to go.

I wish it was available on some other common internet sellers.

Now I understand where my old credit card was 'stolen'  8O  and I was forced to cancel it  :x  Sigh... Damn, in the future in the unlikely event I buy from Chaosium again no more 'let them avoid PayPal fees' policy...

I just noticed that Troll Lord Games' website was "hacked" a couple of days ago.

http://www.freeyabb.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... llordgames

Apparently there were no problems as a result of the attack as it seems more of a prank than a malicious attempt at a data grab but Steve is urging people who have TLG accounts to change their password as a precaution.

This whole Wikileaks backlash is getting out of hand.

Same BAD experience.
Now it makes sense too...
Ordered 3 weeks ago the Masks, and get my Credit card charged last week for several operations.
