Some of the Call of Cthulhu collectors here will have noticed the recent excitement on yog-sothoth.com about the - frankly totally astonishing - French Beyond the Mountains of madness limited edition.

It really is state of the art for roleplaying adventures. For those who missed it, here is a link to its arrival:

http://www.yog-sothoth.com/threads/1917 ... ght=french

It is delivered in a handmade wooden crate, which contains:

- the 672 pages hardbound campaign book
- a 80x120 cm Starkweather-Moore expedition flag (yes, a flag!)
- 9 lithos (interior artwork)
- a poster 60x40 (expedition portfolio)
- the novel the Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket
- the diary of William Dyer, with the original Lovecraft's story, At the mountains of madness
- a separate booklet with all the handouts

I bloody well hope we get one in English (pleeeeease).

That is pretty cool, how much was it?

199 EUR.  That is about 275 USD.

Not cheap.  But if my French was better (i.e. better than schoolboy French) I would definitely have bought one.  :D

I think it also comes with a CD of suitably atmospheric music as well.  :D

I bought one... Very nice stuff, as French can do :D

but ... a little overpriced considering the whole quality (booklets inside are very cheap books, except the main book) and the finishing. For example, the piece of pine used inside. Very disappointing. And no CD inside ;)

They don't make woodgrain boxes like they used to... ;)
Nice pics, thanks. :)

This boxed set is already very sought after in France. I know at least 5 persons who are looking for one and want to pay highly more than released price. I should have bought 3 copies... (the limit per buyer)

Arrogant cousin, did you see the Italian edition of RuneQuest?  :P  8)

Just a joke, I really like French RPGs, I have bought the French Beyond the Mountain of Madness (just the gorgeous book...) and I am very happy having bought a French copy of Star Frontiers  8) and Lokiwookie is a great guy!  :D

Didn't notice your reply ;)

Sans-Détour édition previously published a collector edition of the 6th edition rulebook (rules are slightly different from US/UK CoC rules).

I bought that too (not the collector's edition...) and it's a GREAT JOB. I stopped using the other rulebooks and adopted this most fine French adaptation.
