Hi,

a difficult question for you- real experts of AD&D' most obscure items.

I'm really puzzled by this supplement. What is it? I'm very, very curious.

Proportional Combat System, The

Anyone has hints? Anyone owns it or ever played using this optional rules?

I think it's a very interesting item, not only due to its obscurity- but because it covers an important aspect of AD&D- namely, combat.

I wonder how is it possible that no one ever mentioned it on Dragonsfoot (it seems so to me, i made a search and it returned no results)-
Someone must have played it somewhere in the past or read a copy!
Ok AD&D sages, i'm looking forward to hearing news from you :D

thanks

Any chance of a piccie?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

author recommends use of a 4 second combat round. different weapons take differing amounts of time to wield (battle axe 6, short sword 3, fist 1). he also lists times for other actions (turning undead 4 seconds, firing wand 1 second, paladin detecting evil 20 seconds, etc.). there is one interesting concept regarding weapon length. a character with a substantially shorter weapon may not attack until the longer weapon wielder has failed on a to-hit roll. if fighting more than one opponent it applies only to one of the opponents.

while it probably takes others little time to do this, it is not my area of expertise. the cover is a powder blue, and the wizard is doing a ronny dio like devil horns salute....

Be interesting to see!

Actually it sounds like Hackmaster 5e. (note this is the newest non AD&D edition not HM 4e)

Basically every action in Hackmaster takes so many seconds. Initiative determines which second you starts. You do your action an you don't get to go again until your count is up. For example if on second (or count) 35 you swing a sword that has a weapon speed of 4. You don't get to use it against until 39.
