I thought this was rather clever ... one part D&D, one part Watership Down and one part Redwall series.

http://www.trolllord.com/siege/8901.html

This might be the ticket to getting my neurotically anti-violence sister-in-law to allow my nephews to actually play an RPG.

I don't know whether Troll Lord's material is collectible in the context of this site, but i've been pleased with the products I have bought so far.

I actually don't own this one yet. The author (an Acaeum member -- Deogolf) says there are plans for additional products in the line.

All I've done is read the sample PDF at this point, but there's something about this particular concept that seems to have some real promise.  Like "making the Troll lots of money" type promise.

Maybe it's the family angle thing.
Despite having laptops galore (not to mention a PS2, PS3 and a Wii) my wife, kids and I have a blast playing poker and traditional board games.

So, I'm thinking, why not a light RPG for a rainy day?

Hope it goes well for you. And, making lots of money is a good thing... I won't argue that, since it means they'd be more willing to publish more of my garbage.

Oh, it's not me.
I'm just a half-baked collector.
I'd just like to see Troll succeed

And anyone else doing this :-)

I hope it succeeds too!!

The major influence was Brian Jacques' Redwall series! {with a bunch of other minor influences over the years}  8)

Oh, I wouldn't call it garbage...

Quite the contrary!

Interesting, though I think my 7 and 4 year olds are probably already too far gone into the worlds of Pokemon, Bakugan, and Ben Ten for this to be appealing to them. I don't know about it being nonviolent, either. Those vermin are packin' some serious steel!

Oh, it'll be violent.
Damn well better be, anyway ...
But my SIL has an odd take on violence.
I suspect a rodent hacking up a rattler won't bother her.
On the other hand, she'll be less, um, sympathetic
to a lawful evil assassin slowly torturing a unicorn with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch.

My son has gotten out of the Ben Ten stage.
Now it's Star Wars, Harry Potter & superheroes.
My daughter just rolls her eyes.
She thinks fantasy is unrealistic.

Who said anything about it being nonviolent?!

Cluny the Scourge, among others, was quite nasty and downright dispicable!!

Regardless, it makes for a funny, but disturbing, image in me head!
