Over on the Monkey House Games forum, someone asked about a copy of "VIGIL: The Villains and Vigilantes Fanzine", apparently published for one issue in 1985. This thread has a copy of the cover:

http://monkeyhousegames.com/?page_id=18 ... ic&t=197.0

Does anyone know anything about this obscure fanzine? does anyone have a copy of it?

Jeff Dee artwork is a nice touch in context. :)

=> http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/VandV/message/4090 , anyhow...

Same copy, but the person asking the question is sharing a board already with the owner of that copy.

"I would be happy to scan the rest of the zine if anyone can
track down the original owner/creator Colin Longcore and get his
permission to do so. The last address I have for Colin is via New
World Graphics, 1000 Richmond NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504. My best
guess is that Vigil was produced in 1985. There is no publication
date, but some of the artwork has Colin's signature and is dated 1985."

I used to play V&V a lot, but I definitely don't remember seeing this before.

I have receved permission from Colin Longcore, said permission being stored in my Facebook account, and am currently seeking Jeff Dee's permission as well. Hopefully we'll have more to report on this soon.

Plus 10 minutes for trawling the interwebz, finding the (non-public) messages on the Y! group and correlating those two pics, of course. ;)

Good work! :)

As it happens we have found out that there was only ever one issue of Vigil published, and we are presently waiting on an owner of one to get the time to scan it, and then everyone will be able to see it.

We got it! I don't know how to attach it here (or even if such is allowed) but for now you can get it on the V&V Yahoo group or also here:

Many thanks to Ken Cliffe for scanning it for us, and to Colin Longcore and Jeff Dee for permission to scan it.
