I was looking through some boxes that had not been unpacked from the move and found something I did not even remember I had.. the Dr. Who box set, but in it, there was Arduin Dungeon #3. Yay, minor score.

Of course, in retrospect, I remember buying that Dr. Who at "the world's largest yard sale" in Buffalo, but did not recall it had "special" contents.

Nope, you are correct.  Level 2, not long after you ascend the stairs.  First doppleganger I ever met.  Ah!  Good memories.   :)

Looks like a fight for the first couple issues, then the competition lost interest in trying to get a partial set.  Wonder who that fanzine collector could be :)

I would have been tempted (doubtful I would have won) to get paper copies too but will have to do with the electronic versions.

for those not in the know, who would like to be, the last two posts were Mark & Brette poking gentle fun at me. i had stated that i don't really collect fanzines, and lo and behold i was bidding on items which i guess they think of as fanzines. gentle ribbing aside, to me the distinction is whom the publisher is: if a magazine is published by the maker of the game, i don't think of that as a fanzine. your thoughts gentlemen?

p.s. the auctions ended at (roughly) the same time, not allowing me to snipe on all of them. i put  bids in early on the ones i already had, and then sniped  on the two i needed...and lost...there will be more, and hopefully next time without mailing labels.

hmmm.  Interesting thought - will have to ponder that and see how it rectifies with "small press".

No, that would be an 'inhouse magazine' or an 'inhouse newsletter'.

Life was a lot easier when the split was simply prozine vs. fanzine. *jk*

Was White Dwarf only a fanzine bitd, in that case? (Might explain why it was so good, if so... ;) )

Following Ian's example, a company producing a prozine can also create trade newsletters, inhouse newsletters and semi-official inhouse newsletters bordering on self-referential "fanzines".
Compare;

Hmm... at least you can steam those off;

whereas if someone actually types or (even worse?) writes on the 'zine you're kinda stuffed. :x

At least the latter two ain't fanzines?

Dungeoneer: I have Tadashi Ehara & kerry lloyd copies.
Strategic Review: I have Kevin Blume copy.
Dragon: i have Al Hammack copy.
Space gamer: i have TSR copies (they probably subscribed to everything).
Domesday books: i have Rob Kuntz copies.
      but i don't have any personal copies of anything by Arneson or Barker; those are pretty neat David.

I think I sold that set a few years back. Has three signiatures instead of four? That's why it stands out to me. A rarity amongst the modern uncommons.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Ian, should these sets have four signatures vs. three? Who's is missing?

Thanks,
Jorge

Mac Golden's signature is missing from that one.  Maybe he had to go to the bathroom and missed a few.  :wink:

I wouldn't worry about it. I had two sets, 77 and 81 I think. One had three sigs and one had four and they both sold for around £25, so I think you did okay.
