I'm sure I have one of these too - at least a similar bag and sticker for the jump-start kit.  I know I have been meaning to check for Bats but don't think I have ever gotten around to it.

Wow - thanks!

I have no doubt that is the original 1988 version.  Interesting that it doesn't say Bats Of Mercille on it, making it even harder to search for these days!

If you ever want to part with it...   :D

In looking at the picture, I note that it actually doesn't refer to the name of the adventure at all.  I'm guessing that the focus was more on this being a "Jump-Start Kit" rather than the adventure itself.  For what it is worth, I've added a picture of the first four pages.

Hmmm:  now I have to go pull mine out.  I thought I had a 2nd printing, but that looks like what I remember mine looking like (for what that's worth---my memory's getting more deceptive these days ;) ).

Just found this weird RPG from a used book store in town

Image

It is an oversized hardcover around 140 pages long.  Creators are from Norway.  It is in english published in 1987.  Pretty neato  :)

Sorry for the poor cell phone pic

eheheh... its not oversized: it's the european A4 format... i'd rather say that your "letter" format is undersized... but i'd prefer to avoid a discussion on over/undersized things...

Exactly aia, I am with you! :) (but there is no protective plastic bag for our format :/ )

MEGA is a pretty nice book. There is a module (Ogre Forest) and a (very) long six-panel screen! Strangely, the A4 size used for the module and the book wasn't used for the screen. The screen isn't even in letter size, but smaller.

MEGA reminds me of the early Fantasy Hero rpg.  A lot of the details of things like spells and creatures was left up to the game master.  Interesting system if I remember correctly (my copy is buried in a bin somewhere in the basement.)

It looks like each creature has a location diagram to distribute hits, a roll of 1 on a D20 being the best location and 20 the worst 8O

Some are just ... hilarious. A location for a snake? Seriously?
Diagrams looks like pieces of meat...

Yep. It'd pretty much cut the snake in half.
