#4 date is june 1987. the watchmen are on the cover and the article tease on the cover says " watchmen  the conspiracy  the sequels  the movie!"    the article inside mentions 20th century fox purchased the rights to make a movie and that sources indicated ILM was to be employed.

i looked at the link and the image shown for number 4 looks a little orangeish, while the actual magazine is definitely red. i wonder if the one they scanned had faded some....

i don't believe that is a back order form, it's merely a subscription form. their decision to put Vol. II Issue 1 on the cover of the initial magazine would surely lead one to think that there had been prior issues, but i don't believe that was the case. i was working for a game distributorship at that time and that was the first issue one could get. i believe it was just an idiosyncratic choice on the part of the publisher to put that on there.

what is possible (but shear speculation on my part) is that he had heretofore produced an unknown number of more amateurish magazines locally there in NYC and for his step up to a more professional publication he called it Vol. II to differentiate the product. but i have never heard of any prior issues, and as i mentioned, none were available at that time through distribution channels.

I'll have to read it all again now to be sure since you say that, I would love for it to be only 14 issues!..
