Okay, since this auction is already off to a roaring start and it *IS* in my opinion a watermark auction (red letter auction... landmark auction? eh...whatever)

Let's have some fun with it....

Here's the link:

cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&a ... 9&rd=1

Here's the game:

How much will it sell for?  Closest without going over wins.
(IOW, if it sells for 101.00 and you said 101.01 you lose)

Second wager:

Who will win it? Bonus if it's someone from The Acaeum.

Third wager:

Will the winning bid be a snipe? (For this purpose, a snipe will be considered a bid made in the last 60 seconds of the auction regardless of who places the bid or if the bid is a proxy from a previous bidder)

Bonus (non-bet, just discussion)
In your opinion, was this set 'original' or 'assembled' from other sets?  IOW, did the guy pull different booklets from different sources and build his woodgrain or is this the stuff that was originally inside it (of the 3 original books only).

Disqualifications:  You can't win the bet if you win the auction.  All posts have to be at least 24 hours before the end of the auction:
02-Aug-04 22:24:05 EDT.

Entry fee:
You have to pledge 'something' to the winner.  Some D&D crap you don't want any more.  Doesn't have to be valuable per se, an extra Dragon, Module, Sourcebook, etc...   It's up to you.  Don't post a guess if you're not willing to step up and pledge something.

Winner:
Closest To Price: 5 points for first, 3 points for second, 1 point for third

Guessing the winner: 3 points

Snipe or no snipe? : 1 point

Ties will be resolved by hierarchy of bet 1,2,3 in that order.  If that's ineffective (and I can't imagine how) we'll choose a random number.

Other Rules: First post at an amount owns that amount.  You can ONLY bid at $1.00 increments.  No PENNIES.  All bidding is in US Dollars (Careful Nev and Rolf and Sorreteno!).

Ready Set Go!

-Jon

Winning bid: $658

Bidder: benwax (cop out, I know)

Snipe: yes by proxy

Bonus: not assembled (other than the supplements of course)

Wager: Dungeoneer Journal #23 fair condition

Jon,

This was a great idea, but I think hard to pull off in a short time period.

Also, I bet alot of the guys were thinking about bidding...I know I was right on the edge. The ink marks kind of lost me ...

Anyway, we should try this again. I would be game!

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

We need to have a preset ante for each of us, then select an item as soon as it hits the boards. I think it's a great idea.

It's already had a lot of publicity in another thread or two.  But anyone care to hazzard a guess at the ending price of:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 5914765089

I reckon that it will make about $300 and a member of this forum will win.

I say $404, improvstone, and it is almost definitely an original set. Still isn't worth shit without the box, but.........

So weird. Rahasia goes by without a ripple, and a brown box (opps, no box) set makes such a stir. I honestly wouldn't pay more than $100 for it, and even that is stretching it.

I'll put up a Caves of Shadow.

I'm putting up a "well loved" C2 Ghost Tower of Inverness.  So, I suppose that I ought to be more specific.  $300 with a snipe from stormber.

Hm.

Well, if we do it Price is Right style, I win. I had meant to ask that, about going over etc., otherwise I'd have bid $988, just to cut you out, Jon.

I think it's time to sell.

I think you win whatever way we do it.  You were very close.  Send me your address and I'll get the C2 in the post.

Holy shiite, I just realized the bet was for a WHOLE set. I thought it was harami's unboxed set we were betting on! Don't know HOW that got mixed up.
