Reading that link Brett posted, it's pretty negative towards that Ruby Dragon book. It looks rather nice though, imo, for what it is.
Good luck with those other boxes! I'm outta this thread.

That is only the second copy of Ruby Dragon I have seen in six years. I think I sold the first one to you, Brette? Anyone else ever see or own one of these?

For what is assumed to be homebrew, it is professionally printed, and stapled into a module, typeset with maps and illustrations throughout (integrated into the text ratjher than 'drawing page/writing page' type setout), and is some 40+ pages in length, of which 36 are numbered. It's no more 'homebrew' than a lot of the small press stuff we see. I never managed to track down the author, but you never know if one day he'll turn up. Google seems to remember everything.

If this stuff goes on sale, you must split it all up. I suspect Ruby Dragon will go for over $100 with no problem at all. You may be surprised where that one goes.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

You have an eye for investment.
Have you read it through yet?
If so, what did you think of it?

No investing, just collecting.. I think I did read through it when I got it (quickly) nothing to rave about (from what I remember.. and there is very little I rave about).. I do seem to remember a lack of artwork, but I'm sure you'd be able to comment more on that than me as mine is packed away..  ;)

Brette:)

Just to plug Adrian, he's a highly-reputable D&D collector, and I'm sure would be able to assist with grading comics given his long-time professional association therewith :D

Nice find!  My advice is to enjoy it, and don't get all caught up on value.  If that becomes your primary concern, it's probably time to sell as the books have lost their purpose.

(Oh, and buy a few metric tons of non-vintage comics with the money from the sale, including reprints of the ones you just sold.)

Thanks guys!  Always happy to entertain questions and offer opinions about grading, pricing, storing, CGCing, etc.

Ruby Dragon is rare (at least for now until the author is found and happens to have a box of them).  I think I remember seeing another copy for sale on Ebay over the last few years so I think this is a 3rd one.

Damn, one day I hope to stumble onto a woodgrain and think "had it all along." Must be nice to have been living when they were printed.

If that is how you want to read it, then... have at it.

But, there is something to say for having bought these items off the shelf or at the store when they were first released as opposed to tracking them down through an intermediary, from another source, over the hills and through the woods.... in some ways, they would be more special, literally a personal history, which may not mean anything to anyone else, but neither does most of any collecting hobby.
