Hatred is such a strong word, Frank. Yes, you made me angry on some occasions. It is also obvious we don't like each other and have very different opinions most of the time, but I reserve hatred for those who really hurt me or those close to me. Currently, I do not hate anybody and haven't done so for a long time. I'd like to keep it that way.

I like you just fine, Ralf, believe it or not. The measure of a man is not in the strength of his friends, but in the strength of his enemies. Just because we strongly differ on opinions does not mean I am right or you are. Even though I AM right...........

It should be on your list of must reads this year...

It is a book by Bill Bennett. Basically, it describes what moral character is, and why we, as Americans are correct in our actions. We have a spine, the rest of world is either corrupt of spineless.

I was being a bit broad about the rest of the world. In light of the days events, I don't think the UK falls in with countries like...eh...France, per se.

And you are absolutely correct. There have been plenty of pathetic American leaders and there will be more. However, the point of the book is simply that the American President has to do what he feels is correct and morally just (by our standards). If said president does not, and uses some sort of "world" morality, we will simply dig our own grave. Afterall, we went through eight years of, for lack of a better word, "weak" US leadership, and we paid the price in 1991.

Er...who's Pholtus?

Anyway, I knew this line of thought was gonna go south. But the original premis of the topic was very similar to what the above mentioned book focuses on.  Basically, stand up for yourself, because if you do not, some bastard is gonna eventually screw you.

It has nothing to do with crusading or the like, no matter how current American geopolitical action is characterized by certain media. The point is simply to take a stand, and follow through.

Ya want to call me a paladin, go ahead. I've been called worse. I spent 12 years in the U.S. Army (4 active and 8 reserve), fought in one conflict (Panama) and one war (Desert Shield/Storm). I am grateful for the opportunity to have served my country. That doesn/t make me a paladin, just a citizen.

Am I the only one to find this statement  offensive?

With statements like that you will be writing for 'dark dungeons' in no time.

No but this is a RPG board not a political discussion group, so it is best just to ignore it.

Hey, I didn't  say it or endorse it. It was also complete generalization of an entire book. And I don't see anything offensive it anyway. I mean, every country has its views on how things should be, and most are reflective of their general populace (or the majority voting block). All I said (quoted) was that there is nothing wrong with that. Some countries stand up for their beliefs and others do not. That all.

McDuff, I agree with you fully. I was also under the impression that this board's was created for the discussion of this silly hobby of ours, collecting stuff.

But, despite the existence of a zillion boards especially made with the purpose of venting ones world view -- or more likely the lack of understanding of the same, some people are just -- let's say -- passionately stubborn. And moreover, possibly without even noticing it themselves, offensive.

So could we please stick to the topic. This thread was about eBay auctions -- chilling and copyright issues, and how to react to them. Actually, a consensus on the topic seems to have been reached, so we might as well close the thread anyway.
Hint, hint.

Last time I checked we were dealing with the "morality" of a certain individuals actions as a policeman of ebay acutions related to our hobby. I never made this a political soapbox. Check the posts.

I simply said, ILUVDND can claim moral justification for his actions - whether we think he is correct or not. Then red_bus asked me a question and I answered. That is a political debate????

And personally, I have no intention of making one here. I love this hobby because it is an escape from everyday life and, yes, the politics of the day.

Again, I simply pointed out that ILUVDND can stand on a moral high ground - some can agree, others not - and that was all. :D

He's right.
I do concur that this thread needs to be snipped by the Fates.
