There is a gap in the information generally available about 3rd party D&D products from back in the day (and what happened to authors/illustrators etc.) coming out of mainland Europe. Out of France, I am aware of a few publishers that did D&D stuff, but maybe only three or four, the most notable being Le Dernier Cercle, who published about 9 modules, most of which are pretty high quality. It may be a case that that was it, but I think it likely there were more small presses and fanzines we don't know about, so anything you have D&Dish that was not published under the TSR banner I'd be most interested in finding out about.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . gummy bears.

Hey everyone,

My name is Bob and I'm a collector from years ago. I live in upstate New York. I got my first D&D item (Basic Box Set) in 1981 as a Christmas gift. I started seriously collecting in 1986 and stopped in 1998 when I got into other things. Recently, a friend at work that plays got me thinking about my collection, so I decided to go through everything again. It's all been sitting on shelves and in containers untouched since 98. I probably have around 4000 items, not all D&D, but mostly. I'm working on better documenting and valuing my collection, so of course found the Acaeum. Great site! I will be posting a few of my rare items in your appraisal forum for hopefully some input.

Bob

Welcome rschuyler!  We look forward to seeing pics of your collection!  And we have plenty of opinions when it comes to appraisals!  Of course, Voltaire stated that "Opinions have caused more ills than the plague or earthquakes on this little globe of ours."   Anyway, welcome! :?

Welcome Bob!

Sounds like you have a wonderful collection.  Glad you have joined the The Acaeum forums.  We're happy to help out a fellow collector.

A lot of information can be found from prior posts, or from the valuations on the website, but feel free to ask if you can't find the info anywhere else.

Thanks for the welcomes! I'll post some pics of my collection this weekend. Is there a better way to post pics other than Imgur?

Greetings all, I’m new to the forums so here goes:

Name: Trevor

Age: 51

Location: Vancouver, Canada

I’ve been playing D&D for 40 years and collecting for about thirty, but admittedly I was only a very casual collector. Around ten years ago I caught the collector bug when I bought a pristine copy of my favourite module (S4), which turned into an obsessive hunt to find all the early AD&D stuff in as good condition possible. I do this strictly for the nostalgia and thrill of the chase, as most collectors do I suppose. My most prized (but not necessarily my most valuable) possessions: 1st prints of G1, G2, and G3 with monochromatic covers and lizard logo.

Cheers!

Hello Trevor, Welcome to The Acaeum.  Definitely looks like you have the collecting bug!  That G series is great with the old monochromatic covers.  Not easy to find 1st prints, especially in collectible condition.

Thanks for having me, guys!

@benjoshua: very true...over the years I’ve discovered a lot of material (many through this website) I didn’t even know existed. That’s what makes the rabbit hole of collecting so much fun.

@dbartman: I hunted my copies of G1-3 for about a year, about five or six years ago. I feel like I got them just in time, because they seem a lot more scarce these days.

De nada.  If you're still playing with S4 in a game, my page at Greyhawk's "Lost" Dungeon Levels:  S4 The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth might catch your eye ;)
