@benjoshua -- I'll have to seriously consider the Tejas RPG Con. When you say North Tejas... are you referring to Dallas/Fort Worth area?

Hey MadCat, I work for a large tech corporation in their IT department. Our team focuses primarily on designing data centers and cloud solutions globally. We have data centers around the world. And we use just about every major technology available on the market. This also includes automating workflows using the API's for those apps (Oracle, OpenStack, VMWare, Containers etc.) or OS (Linux and Windows Server 2012). Most of my team, including myself, will program using Perl, Python, Javascript, C (only when required) or other languages.

Holy crap! I just became Mayor of Nerdville. Cats out of the bag now. Like D&D -- I can talk techie stuff all day long.

When you say Medical assistant, like a nurse or something along those lines?

Very cool. I worked for a couple very small companies (one manufacturing plant, one retail home office with satellite shops all over the country.) I had to be the jack-of-all trades (remember this was late 1990's.) Primarily focused on Access, VBA and networking.

We (Medical Assistants) do pretty much everything an RN used to do in a clinic. Most nurses work in hospital settings these days, so they leave the clinical stuff to us.

Hark!

Tarmo from city of angels here. I started on dnd in the 90s with 2nd edition. Stopped playing for 25 years and have recently put my hat back the ring with 5e. This group is also big into board games. Anyways, I've started collecting early RPGs, TSR and non-TSR, primarily from the 70s. It predates the stuff I learned on, but I just love how experimental and home-brewed the materials were. Glad I found this board, it's a great resource and much appreciated. Happy Hunting.

Well met, Tarmogoyf!

You are among like-minded and similar backstoried people (many of us returned to playing after an extended hiatus).  :-)

Greetings to Everyone,

Just joined, though I have been trolling for a while.  Really appreciate all the great information I learn from this site, and all the time the members take to put into it.

I started playing in the late 70's, with the first three books from a white box set and some raggy old Arduin copies (grew up in Concord, CA which was Hargrave country).  Quickly settled into AD&D, but haven't actually been able to play in over 25 years due to lack of folks to play with and of course work, life etc.  Had a fairly good collection of items including a lot of old miniatures which I took out of boxes a couple of years ago and have since then started collecting to enjoy the memories of a favorite childhood activity.  Mostly working on a complete set of items through 2E - still need to get numerous rare items but have most of the normal range.  Also collect JG and some other non-TSR but don't have the depth of knowledge on a lot of those areas.   Looking forward to asking dumb questions  :D

Welcome spinplasm!

And there is no such thing as a dumb question, just a dumb answer....although some people have argued that's only relevant in the classroom.  On second thought, those questions that have already been answered could be considered dumb, so feel free to use the site's search feature.  And, I guess questions of which the answer should be painfully obvious to any person with a pulse who has lived on this earth for more than a decade could also be deemed dumb....but other than that, ask away!   :)

And then there are posters who just get carried away and totally off topic!   8O

well met, Spinplasm!

Be careful of the word "complete".  I've learned that there are varying levels of completion - my collection was complete and incomplete many times over the last several years as I learned about all the different things TSR made.  :-)

Enjoy the ride!

Hello,
My name is Joe and I have been playing since 1979 -1980, I was 8-9 years old at the time. This game had such a huge impact on me. It is as cool today, as the first day I played, but now it's nostalgic, maybe even better. I have been to this website many times over the years and love it. Why it took me so long to join, I don't know? My two favorite modules would be Tomb of Horrors and White Plume Mountain.  It is a pleasure to join a place where people love this game as much as I. I am also addicted to Warcraft.

Welcome Bluepaladin!  Glad you love D&D, and we won't hold your addiction to Warcraft against you.  We all have weird addictions of one kind or another.

Hello Acaeum Community!

A friend of mine highly recommended these forums (and this website) as a place to frequent for those who are serious about their Dungeons & Dragons :).  I've been playing D&D since I was a wee lad (and I'm old enough now for that to seem like eons ago ;)), and started "seriously" collecting D&D products about 10 years ago.  I also dabble in a bit of Lovecraftian lore keeping.  My gaming alter-ego is a dwarven bard with a fondness for the Great Highland Bagpipes ... for antiphrasis, I go by Skullhammer :).

Hopefully I can contribute to these forums, and I'm looking forward to shedding my Lurker tag :).

-Skull
