cleavet wrote:Hello all,

I'm Tom, age 44. I've lurked for a while, mostly reading Bill Owens' commentary in the Judges Guild forums, and recently took the plunge to register. I played a pile of D&D with the Holmes basic set (lizard man logo) back in '78, then AD&D 1e sporadically through the mid- to late-80s. I recently discovered the classic Judges Guild Wilderlands material and have been buying selected items with an eye toward running an OSR campaign. RPGNow has quite a bit but there's nothing like the originals to make one appreciate the craftsmanship--of varying quality, admittedly--that went into JG products.

Acaeum is an excellent collector's and browser's resource. Thanks to everyone who has built it and who helps keep it up.

Welcome Tom!

Thanks, Mike. I did business with you on eBay (I'm "deviltom" there) and based on that experience would search you out first for further purchases.

Great!  Well good luck with the JG search....this is the best resource I've found online for JG knowledge, Shane's subweb is awesome.

I believe the only place more Judges Guild than the Acaeum is the small town of Judges Guild, Kanas, in which 90% of the inhabitants are retired judges who play Judges Guild modules and hold contests in which they judge each others' judgments about Judges Guild.

Other than that one town...the Acaeum is where you want to be for Judges Guild.

Welcome Tom!

I would like to give you a fair warning, this forum is both fun and expensive at the same time :)

I am fairly new here myself, but I think that your interests coincide with mine (and the rest of the hivemind's as well).

Hi, Iain from Cambridge UK. Still in my 30s until next week! Been playing for over 25 years having started with the good old red basic d&d set. Must have skipped half the rules and bent the other half back then! Been collecting for 8 years or so with just over 550 1st / 2nd basic & advanced titles now. Started with the intention of obtaining all basic d&d titles and having just about completed that turned to the bigger task of ad&d titles. Been following many threads on the forums for ages but only just joined, good to finally be proper member.

Hi, I'm Shawn, but I typically go by Arkhein (Ark) electronically.

I attended NTRPGCON for a second time this year with my son and we had a blast.  While I knew the Acaeum and NTRPGCON each had something to do with one another, I wasn't sure exactly what.   Both John January and Jeff Imrie explained it enough times that I finally got it, though.

I've never considered myself a collector.  I do happen to have a pile of old D&D stuff.  I keep on buying old D&D stuff too.  So perhaps I actually am a collector.  A lazy, amateur one, but a collector all the same.

I'm mostly interested in stuff that I had back when I was a kid playing D&D, or stuff I wanted that I couldn't afford.  So specifically, that would be D&D, and other TSR items from the late, late 70s till maybe around 85, when I drifted off to other gaming systems - though I wouldn't be opposed to owning stuff from even earlier times.

Oh, and I have a blog called Rather Gamey where I babble about gaming, both old and new.

So howdy ya'll, and nice to meet ya.

- Ark

Hi all

New to Forum but visiting The Acaeum since years.
I am half collector half player in many RPGs since 1985 and sometime master.
I always enjoyed writing stories and been curious into many fields to find the interresting stuff to put in.
From musics to Arts, It s always great to share nice findings through a good RPG story.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I was wondering if it exist in Forum some places to discuss of the Origins of few famous old names from D&D universe ?

For example i remember that undead creature called "Son of Kyuss", and always wondered who was this Kyuss and if it had its own story somewhere ???  PDT_Armataz_01_05

Thanks.

it seems I've yet to introduced myself, better late than never!.

I'm Fausto, and I've the difficult task of collecting ADnD 2e products in Europe (where I live...). Really, it's not that easy...

Anyhow, my motto is "If I bought it, I'm going to use it!" So, hopefull I have 100-200 year of gaming ahead of me.

Piece of cake!

Anyhow, greetings all!
