Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Prufrock, mostly AD&D 2nd Ed. but really anything D&D from the TSR days.  I also have a fondness for the weirder, non-rpg related things.  Promotional posters, video games, the LJN action figures, etc.  But honestly, I'll collect it all.  I'm hooked, and have been unabashedly so since the time I rolled my first pc.

Hello everyone - returning to gaming in my 40s and have been madly collecting the stuff I gave away before college (and then some).  :?

Most recent accomplishment was completing a collection of every White Dwarf Magazine. Currently turning my attention to The Dragon and Alarums and Excursions... and lots of other good stuff from Laserburn to Wee Warriors. The 20-30 somethings I game with think I'm nuts.

There is an Alarums and Excursions bid going on now on eBay if I'm not mistaken.

Welcome!

Hector.

Well, since I just showed up, I guess I should introduce myself.

I am The Badger King, and I am Canadian. 8)

I have been playing RPGs from around 32 years now. I haven't gamed regularly in almost 20 years though - combination of my gaming group drifting to different parts of the world, plus I left to go to university for a few years, and then pulling stints teaching in small, isolated towns. I have only recently gotten back into even thinking about RPGS in any meaningful manner, mostly through my discovery of OSR bloggers.

I'm not an obsessive collector, although I am a bit of a completist. Currently, my collection consists of B/X rules with the two iconic modules, Keep on the Borderlands and Isle of Dread (at one point, I had B1-4 and the B1-9 supermodule, along with X1-2, but I sold them in the past, and have had to reacquire them), a complete set of the AD&D 1st Ed orange spine rulebooks (except I don't have the Forgotten Realms adventures one, and I have Fiend Folio, and the C'Thulhu/Melnibonean Deities & Demigods also), most of the original Greyhawk modules (including the World and City box sets), a complete set of UNKNOWN ARMIES RPG from Atlas Games, a sizable collection of CYBERPUNK 2020 (all the supplements and sourcebooks, but not a lot of the modules), a whole bunch of WEG STAR WARS D6 RPG (including all the Galaxy Guides), and smatterings of other stuff (the special edition leather-bound CALL OF C'THULHU rulebook, most of the SAVAGE TALES OF SOLOMON KANE RPG, some LL stuff, and some other stuff I will be advertising to get rid of 8) ).

I also know that there is a lot of demand for older gaming material, especially miniatures, so I have a tendence to buy up old stuff when I can find it, to get it into the hands of other gamers.

Anything else you want to know? 8)

I like it!

You're not just Badger King.  You're The Badger King.

Sort of like a superhero of gaming.  :D

I could be The Form Critic...possibly some sort of super villain.

I could start working on my costume and my catch phrases.  :D

Making the intro round at the suggestion of a recent friend...Smarmy1.
He pointed me to this site when I was looking through all my old games trying to determine their values.

Don't recall when I started gaming and collecting.  Probably around 1978.
Primarily, I have been gaming on and off every few year since then.  With a huge break prior to D&D 3rd Edition.  Been spending the last year picking up the interesting items I have missed for the last decade.

Plus, cataloguing and preparing to trade or sell off everthing else I have gathered up over the previous years, I no longer have the space nor need to keep, anymore.

(It really sucks when you find several boxes missing and have no idea where they went to :)

Welcome, and hope you find those missing boxes.
Trading can be very helpful as it leaves out the need for a lot of cash changing hands.

Hi!  Figure I been here long enough that this is warranted.

First exposure to D&D was around age 10 in the Philippines (maybe 1984ish).  I ended up with a pregen Cleric, and not understanding game mechanics, dropped a Blade Barrier on top of the front line melee.

I remember throwing my collection in the trash around age 19 after moving back to the US from Japan.  I'll spare everyone the painful details.  Girls and cars were the order of the day.

Got a car, girl, degree, job, kid, and somewhere around 3 years ago decided it would be neat to read some of the stuff I played with as a kid.  I grabbed a lot off of eBay that had a couple rulebooks and modules in it with absolutely no thought of collecting.  And the rest is $ I'll never get back.

I would like to thank everyone who makes this forum go - it has been an invaluable resource for the last 3 years, and with it, I have managed to recapture (or at least put on a shelf for later perusal) some of the things that brought me joy from childhood.

Thanks Acaeum.

And man, I'd be a total tool if I didn't thank TSR, FASA, and GDW as well.  You guys totally blew the doors off of the remote control car and out-imagined the legos.

Hi guys,

Finally registered on the Acaeum - been lurking for a while.   I started playing AD&D in high school back in the 90s - mostly Greyhawk.  Played some Planescape in college - haven't played any D&D since.

My interest in D&D these days is in the fantasy art - I still love the stuff.   I have a few paintings that were used for cover art & always keeping my eye open for original art that was used on Greyhawk modules/sourcebooks.

I look forwarding to chattin' with you all.

-Dan
