Hello to you all,

Well Davidc pretty much sums up everthing for myself. I got bitten by nostalgia a few years back and recently I stumbled upon the collection in my closet and it has opened old dreams of days gone past.

I believe the Acaeum was a stroke of genius I have lurked it's pages for some time and thought it was time to join up and contribute any way I can. I am grateful to have a place to help with my collection. Thanks for having me here as well.

Welcome davidc!  Glad you are here.

Nostalgia is good, but beware nostalgia creep.  It infects most of us around here including me.  First we just want x, y & z and then it's a, b & c and so on and so on.  Seriously, this a great crowd.  Enjoy! :)

I've been remiss in not posting here before now.

I'm John Justice, and I'm a D&D addict.  I'm in Alabama and I've been playing since 1978, which qualifies me for the title of Gaming Curmudgeon.  I also collect D&D/AD&D stuff up to the end of the 2nd edition.

A few of you here know me from past trading.  Sorry I've been away for so long, but I've been kind of busy lately . . .

Long live D&D.

Thanks!  I started early enough that I can regale (bore) the younger players with the tale about how I had to HAND COPY charts and rules from the original boxed set my friend owned, because we didn't have the DMG yet.  I can still remember that new book smell when I got mine hot off the presses in '79 . . .

Ditto John...I sold you a ton of stuff over the years!  I seem to remember you as a hard core old schooler, still play any 1st edition when/if you get the chance?  Oh, and welcome!

Hi everybody, I am a nostalgia driven collector, putting together a 1st (and some 2nd) edition set of books and modules that I liked way back when.  For now not looking for anything rare or pricey, but I have been lurking here for about a month and using the market chart to keep myself from going overboard on ebay.  This site is an incredible resource.  I haven't seen my name come up on the Silliest Auction Price or Idiot Bidder's threads yet, so I guess I have at least done okay so far.

For anyone on here that I have purchased from in the past month (there must be one or two), thank you all, so far I have had nothing but smooth transactions.

Howdy, Madalaymoon and Bad Mike!

Nice to know I wasn't completely forgotten.  Yes, Mike, I'm still running a 1st Ed. Greyhawk game on alternating Sunday nights.  They haven't been portaled over to the Wilderlands campaign yet, so they haven't come across the statue of the Mad Mage Badalato in the Park of Obscene Statues yet.   :)

This forum's looking good guys.

I'm Rafael, 25, from Porto Alegre, Brasil. I don't play D&D nowadays, old or new, but I'm always interested in vintage boxes... great quality back in the days, very cool even to use with other RPG systems.

I have had a recent obsession with acquiring and running an OD&D game.  Not willing to settle for anything less than the best, I went out and shelled out an extreme amount of money for a Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Printing (Woodgrain) Box Set, $2,800.00 in fact.  I also acquired a copy of Outdoor Survival and hope to soon own a copy of Chainmail.  My main focus is to first to play the game as written and develop it from there.  I also had some 1ed AD&D and Classic D&D books, but they are on eBay right now to help recoup a bit of the cost of the Woodgrain.

Hi fellow acaeumites,

My name is Michael, I'm a 31-year old single male from the glorious scandinavian country of Denmark.

I've been playing AD&D since the late 80's, untill around 2 years ago when I started converting my campaigns to Hackmaster, which is what I mostly GM these days. Planescape is my favorit campagin setting, followed closely by Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft and Dark Sun (in no particular order of preference). My collection is mostly AD&D 2nd Edition, but I hope to expand it with more 1st ed., oD&D, etc. in the future. I also have an ungodly amount of other rpgs, major as well as more indie games (my most resent collecting purchase was an original Bunnies & Burrows, and a white cover version of The Storetellers Handbook to the Sabbat to Vampire: The Masquerade (must admit that I have no clue how rare the last one is, anyone here who knows a White Wolf collector site?)). I'm not a fan of the current D&D (D&DINO), and what I have seen and read about 4th ed., only makes me shake my head in disbelief (guess I've missed my save cause it hasnt gone away yet). I'm a huge fan of Knights of the Dinner Table, classic cinema (favorite movies are "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly", Dr. "Strangelove" and "Rashomon") and loud music (genres include industrial, hard rock and classic instrumental). I enjoy french vodka and danish quality beer, good pizza, asian and italian food, and cooking too.

My current pet project is a fantasy rpg in my native language, that has a very old school vibe and yet refreshing & brutal at the same time. I hope to get that finished someday, and self-publish it.

I've been a lurker for some time, and my impression is that alot of the people here are good people, so I hope I can get accepted, make some new friends and benefit from the wisdom present in these forums.

Thank you for making it this far in my rant :)

Hi. Been lurking for a little while, thought I'd take a gamble and post and say 'hello'

I'm in Cambridge in the UK, late 30's, played a ton of D&D and RPGs up until college and then let life get in the way.

Rediscovered D&D and gaming a few years ago and happy playing the 3.5 version. I'm not planning to move to 4e, and I'm now taking the time to buy up the 'classics' I missed (or owned and sold/lost) from the 1e/2e days - mainly modules and Dark Sun and Al-Qadim at the moment.

Anyway, thats me - Hi.
