I LOVE the old artwork from the 70s/80s TSR rulebooks and modules.  Now that I'm older (32) I've begun to search for any artwork available out there.  Can anyone help me in my search? (where to go, who to ask, artist websites, etc.)
I'd be ever so grateful!
I'm especially a fan of Erol Otis and Jim Roslof among the many others!

Hmmm....Conventions that have art shows. Gen Con comes to mind. Most of these guys have "booths" at the art show of said convention and you can buy art. I know some the TSR old-timers are still around, but not sure who.

The stuff that comes across ebay is way overpriced and probably not what you are looking for.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

BBARSH,
Thanks!  I know conventions might have some art, but it's tough to get out to them sometimes.  Also, I think it might be tougher to find some of this "older" stuff??  I didn't know if there were on-line galleries or artist websites that catered to this or not.  THat would be ideal, of course.

I think Jeff Dee is a comic book artist now.  I don't know about any of the others.

!!!
The title for this auction states "Ravenloft" which I know to be a great AD&D adventure module, but the description states "This is an original painting of an Egyptian Sarcophagus from Van Richten's Monster Hunter's Compendium 2 by Kevin McCann."
Is this all the same thing??
I played "Ravenloft" at least 15 years ago and thought of it as a "new" adventure.  I'm not completely familiar with this artist as much as Erol Otis, Jim Holloway, Jeff Dee, etc., etc.  However, I am interested in this piece.
Thanks for the scoop!

Module I6 Ravenloft was the first, but the Ravenloft game world covers a couple hundred products if you count the miniatures and such.  Van Richten is the Van Helsing of that world.

Hey, just spotted this thread . . . . welcome to the extremely frustrating world of vintage TSR art!

I thought I'd better slap up a post here, since my email addy on the Drow's Vault website is no longer valid, and I haven't had time to update the site in eons.

For vintage stuff, you're almost going to have to watch eBay -- Jim Roslof is the only artist I know who still has any of his vintage stuff, except for a very few ink pieces that Erol Otus still has.

Later TSR stuff (post-1982 or so) is a whole different ball of wax -- if you're looking for anyone particular in that are (Parkinson, Easley, etc.) ping me and I'll give you whatever contact info you need - I know pretty much every artist who's worked for TSR since the early 80s with a couple of exceptions.
