Not only did the Deities & Demigods turn out to have the Chulu stuff (2nd printing), it was actually in really good shape (as opposed to the 3 core rulebooks).
Also, the boxed set had mono D2 & D3 modules in it!  :D

:?

Not sure why I should get a bad feeling about the lack of bidders on this PHB (auction just finished).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5222736292

Seller stated 1978, no mention of later printing and white flyleaves/endpapers.
Did anyone get a different response, please?

Well, I missed it.  (See, I stop checking every single poorly-described PHB auction, and I miss one.  Never again!)  At that price/condition, even a 3rd printing is worth it...let us know, though. :)

I was watching that and resisted a snipe.  But I was convinced it was a hardback rather than a GW softback despite the auction text.  I could have asked the seller to confirm I suppose. :?

I still got a pretty good price in the end (it's in VF or better from the pics), but check out the bidding history...  :?  I have some serious concerns there.  What do you guys think?

I had my eye on that last night but decided not to bid as you were on top at the time. Believe me with it sitting at $4.04 with less than 5 hours to go was quite difficult.  I took a quick look at this morning before I came to work and it seemed like it is legit, although the feedback of the 2nd place bidder is pretty bad. I will take a closer look when I get home from work this afternoon. Good win either way though. :)

Just wanted a second opinion (and to vent against the rash of fly-by-night OD&D interest pushing up the bid in genera)l.  I'm pretty sure the seller is legit, but I was a little concerned that I didn't see any familiar names on the bidding list and thought I might have made a big error... ;)

Its a pence (sp?) (coin).
Though unlike American coins going 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, dollar; they have coins that are 1/2 pence, etc...
Course does bring up a question: Is there Euro coins, and if so what do they go by?

Euros use the term "cents", though I'm not sure what coins you can get as I've only been to the continent once since the Euro was introduced but irc it's similar to the UK  (i.e. 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c etc etc).

We don't have half-pennies anymore (since about 81?). Our coins under a pound in value are: 1p, 2p, 5p (formerly known as a shilling), 10p (2 shilling), 20p, 50p to £1. You used to be able to get 6p coins, these are used as luck tokens now.

1 pence/penny. Unfortunately its 1/100 of £. Prior to decimalisation there were 240 pennies in a £.  A shilling was 12d (old pennies).  So, there were 20s in a £.  The old system was known as £sd (LSD to some 8O ).  And I rember it with great fondness.  Tanners (6d), florins(2s), thruppence (3d), farthings (1/4d), crowns (5s), half-crown(2s6d or "two and six"), etc.  Confusing for tourists.  But great for improving mental arithmetic.

The Eurocoins are: 1,2,5,10,20,50 cents, as well as 1 and 2 euro
1,2,5 cent coins are red
10,20,50 cent coins are yellow
1 and 2 euro coins are silver with yellow border and yellow with silver border respectively

and way too many people making a hobby of saving all the coins from every country.... :?

Not really a "find", but is safe to say under a dollar each was "cheap" for those Strategic Reviews and first 300 or so Dragons, regardless of the hole-punching.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5224438032
(A rather poorish 3-hole punched Dragon #1 selling for ~$106 not that long ago. Rather high price, IMO, but there ya go...).

Very definitely had to resist the temptation to bid on those, as well as the Polys.
(Only the issues I needed, in order to dodge the shipping costs...).

I would have been prone to bid on it myself, but I have a not so good recent run with new users who have attempted to steal my money.     I have gotten porked at least 3 times in the last 6 months.

I was surprised to get this one at this price:

cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem& ... 5221018062

I've been reluctant to call this a fun find because it seemed less than a find, per se, but for the price I think I got a damn good deal.  The descriptions are very accurate-- the extent of writing is less than one might think-- and I'd say the 3 booklets are at least VG/VG+.  The Swords and Spells is at least VF, and the Chainmail is in excellent condition as well.  The box is in rough shape-- stained, crushed and the top is missing a flap, but it's my first white box so I don't mind as much.

Toss in 2 sets of (new, alas) dice and 5 or 6 (new, alas) minis, and the price is surprisingly low for the lot-- why did this one slip through?  Do you all just have better copies at this point/didn't think the quality was good enough for resale, or has the recent glut of boxes caused you all to look past what strikes me as a good deal?

Basically, I think I'm asking you all to tell me what I thought was a fun find  :D  is not really.
