That's a great pick-up on the art by Burnie.  Hopefully not all that module cover art ended up in a landfill.
Nev's AuctionSieve must have missed it.  Usually he points out these kinds of items.   :(

Two recent fun finds on eBay for me:

JASMINE: BATTLE FOR THE MID-REALM CARD GAME
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1

and a lot with some very nice stuff in it:
Big Lot Of Original D&D Books, Modules, etc
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 3191928346

I've looked for a copy of Jasmine on and off for years, and just remembered it the other night, so I searched and found viola, it was actually being listed.  Fate, I'm sure :D

The second one I got a little mixed up in my head over:  my main interest in buying the lot was the Heritage set, but I thought it was one of the Dungeon Dwellers scenarios, but it wasn't, it was just a Random Monsters collection.  That said, the lot's contents were NM in most cases, and included a first printing D&DG, an almost-mint Hexagonal book (there's a line or three on the back cover page), the modules are NM, the 3rd printing GH folio has the Minifigs listing, and the Grenadier boxes are NM and include the figure listing sheets too.  I'll swap/sell out the duplicates later, I imagine....

Cool item!

Reminds me of the Sqwyrm (sp?) game I picked up a few years back. It is a triangular card game where you play cards to build a dragon, fight knights, and capture princesses. It was advertised in Dragon Magazine in the early eighties and was produced by Top Secret's designer Merle Rasmussen. It might have had Sutherland artwork too. Can't remember.

Anyway...  Nice grab!

Howdy All,

Nothing rare but a rare deal. Went into my usual haunt, searched, found nothing but 2e and 3e stuff. On my way out one of the employees at the place says, "Hey Paul, there is some AD&D stuff you might be interested in on the counter." I glanced over and saw 4 magazine slipcases filled with modules. I said, without even looking through them, "I'll take 'em all!"

The kid was stunned that I'd just buy them like that. He said, "Wow! O.K. since you are buying them all at once, I'll give them to you at cost. $12.50."

I said, "For all of them?" He says, "Yeah." One hundred and two D&D and AD&D modules for $12.50. I said, "You can't be serious, you guys typically sell this stuff for $6-8 each!" He says, "Well O.K. let's just say $48." I just say, "Great!"

Apparently he was told to not pick up anymore used 3e stuff because it just wasn't moving. He got confused and thought they meant all D&D stuff!

Here is some of what came in the hoard, (please sit down):

I still can't believe it. When I went to my AD&D game last night the guys invariably kidded me, calling me a bastard and stating it was highway robbery, that I was taking candy from children. Then in the same breath they wanted me to sell them the stuff at an equally cheap price. I just laughed.

The sad thing is that whomever sold them, gave them away for a $12.50 pittance - too sad.

That sounds interesting, especially the DCSIII artwork.  Do you still have the game?

Thanks :D  It arrived yesterday, and is in beautific condition, although the seller charged $5 shipping and the USPS only charged him $1.98 :/

Shit, I was hoping EVERYONE would miss it. Thank God muaddib is on sabbatical at Arrakis. Looks like only 3 of us were on it (I don't count Cougarretard, I knew his top bid was like $50).
This just reaffirms what I've always said and practiced about collecting. Patience. EVERYTHING will show up eventually, and if you are patient you can usually get it for a really good price. I'm not talking just eBay, I mean bookstores, yard sales, etc.
Foul, why didn't you throw more at it? I had $550 as max. You missed it by $30 or so. And it's certainly worth more than $550.

Even at $515 I would have been hurting.  The disposable income is not what it used to be.  :(  Even so, you got it at a fantastic price -- congratulations!

Argghhh.... the guy listed them in the books category, rather than toys and hobbies.
That was a very nice pickup.  Kudos...

Oh that stings...

Damn!  Okay Burnie, your karma debt just went up a few notches! :)

THat means, unfortunately, the collecting gods will deign that you over pay for a few auctions now until the universal balance is restored.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

MAN!  Both of those for less than 15 bucks!  AOW!

Rahasia got here today!
I'm curious. In the upper right hand corner is the number 300. Not $3.00, all the numbers are the same size and there is no dot. I'm wondering if this was the 300th printing of the run, and they marked it as such to end the run.

Does it look 'over printed' meaning, they printed the cover and then does it look like someone came along after and printed the 300?

Printers do sometimes mark items as lots (or they use to), but I would think they would do that on the back cover in a non-prominent place, not on the cover front.

Maybe it's the 300th printing! :P
