Oh, wait, wait ... I didn't see that we were referencing an auction mentioned above. I get it now — the wizard's name is Fez. Gotcha.

(definite no-no, though, on the PayPal credit card policy, which the seller spells out not once, but twice.)

Something a little interesting.  This lot has the "FREE" Fast-Play Game booklet which is somewhat hard to find.  Plus some other decent stuff . . . and I was the only one to bid!

Got a very pleasing lot over the weekend from a chap who answered a want ad saying that he had a few bits and pieces and would I be interested.

£150 got me 6 boxes of stuff - 100+ Dragons mags & 180 seperate AD&D items most of which are in immaculate condition. A couple of highlights for my collection (FR) were Menzoberanzxan and code of the Harpers, but the stuff to sell include the Planescape box set and Planes of Chaos, complete guide to Necromancers, H2 & H4 (alas no H1) , another 10 or 12 box sets, most of the FR series, Tales of the outer planes, a couple of Greyhawk mods, 3 or 4 of the later DL adventure packs with uncut counters etc etc.

This nice chap even delivered them to my door on Sunday morning - the joy on my wifes face when she came downstairs to find a 6' high stack of boxes on the kitchen floor!! (I hope this s*** isn't hanging around for long)!!

I worked out that the bits that I put in my own collection would have probably coat me about £125 and it still leaves me 160 bits to sell.

A good day - the only response I normally get from ads is AD&D trivia games ('its never been used' - 'no cos its crap') and space marines from 15 year olds that have discovered girls - just goes to show it pays to persevere.

Hoody frickin' hoo

Ok, I don't get too many fun finds but here is something I opened this morning: I bought four german Companion mods plus Der Insel der Schrecken (X1) for $20 off ebay. I can't speak German but I liked the price, so I figured they would be good novelty reader copies, whatever (yes I know I just said I couldn't read German, well done...I see we have both attended the school for the gifted...) ANYWAY- after waiting about 4 weeks longer than expected due to some kind of German Mail man strike I get the mail this morning and I unwrap a crappy cheapo envelope to see all four in perfect condition....shrinkwrapped!

I am happy. My find was fun.

Yesterday had what I thought was going to be an entry for the shady dealers post.

Bought a lot of 3 box sets and a book just to get one of the box sets.  The price for the lot was less than what I was willing to pay for the box set I wanted.

The seller invoices me and I'm looking at the shipping and thinking "crap that seems a bit high for shipping".

Well, the stuff arrived and as I pick up the shipping box I think "crap this box is heavy".  Turns out that not only were each of the 3 box sets complete, they were filled with other stuff as well.  It was all 2E hardbacks so it wasn't a jckpot, but I didn't have anything of what was in there.

I really don't mind steep shipping if the box sets are ballasted with extra stuff.

It is always a great feeling to get extra booty in a boxset like that.  It happened to me as well when I purchased two Marvel Super Hero RPG boxsets.  The boxes were just packed with mods, supps and all very nice condition as well.

Yes, that's a very good price for that.

Or maybe the H serires is slowly descending to reasonable prices? I have this feeling recently that its prices are starting to cool down.

Nice one.  The copy I just bought is, alas, incomplete.  You don't happen to have any spare parts lying around, do you (or anyone else)? :D

This thread needs a bump...

Took a chance with this one, but it paid off with over 40 books! Just common stuff, but can't beat the price!

This one arrived today...about as cheap as I've ever gotten it thanks to poor title and spelling

Looks like BTB got a good deal here....
