I debated bidding on the H1 lot, but I'm not in the reselling business, so it didn't seem worth it. I believe it is incomplete, too. The seller e-mailed me the contents.

McDuff, I'm not familiar with those two---care to share some details (and yes, this time I actually did in fact manage to check HW first!)? Other than this guy having helped write Shadows of Yog-Sothoth for CoC (pub'd in 1982), I have no idea who he is.

Out of curiosity, how many other non-TSR items are listed in HW that do not appear on Matthias' site? I rarely consult HW, truthfully, and tend to use Matthias' page as my non-TSR bible....

1/4 of the items I have aren't on the Bockster's site. I have been meaning to send scans/descriptions, but time.............

I have always been a non-TSR collector, but I'm finding myself favoring them more and more lately. Such variation.

The author's name sounds familiar, but I am not sure I have anything else by him. The intro to The Tombs of Valla says they were used at Procon I during the summer of 1980. The Tombs of Valla was split into two rounds and Notnaidag Robber Headquarters was the third round. It was also noted no one survived the third round. I have not read the adventures yet so I can not attest to the playability.

As Frank said, there are many items not listed on Matthias' site and there are even some that are not listed in Heroic Worlds. But I would recommend against collecting non-TSR supplements, the quality is usually lacking and the artwork normally is substandard :twisted:

That's what I like about them so much. None of the processed crap that TSR puts out. How can you beat the cover of something like Misty Isles? I can't think of anything that TSR ever did that compares, artwise. At least to my tastes.

Yes, a lot of non-tsr stuff is total dross. But that only lets the gems shine all the brighter.

I think Matthias has taken an extended hiatus from collecting. He hasn't updated his site in over a year, and before that it was probably two years between updates.
You can still buy Tombs of Valla and Notnaidag from the author, John Scott Clegg. I believe he lives in Utah, though the modules won't be as cheap as McDuff got them for. :wink:

I really enjoy the early non-TSR AD&D/D&D stuff. It often reminds me of the stuff I would come up with back in the day, and the artwork isn't much better.

Yep, you got it. They're exactly the same. Whether he has a huge stash of leftovers in his basement or is printing them on an ad hoc basis, I don't know.

I believe if you use the contact information in the modules you can still reach him. I realize you probably don't have the modules. Mine are in deep storage, but if some kind soul who has easy access to them can post that info here then that should work in order to find him. Then again, that was in 1998 or so when I contacted him so he may have moved since then, or may no longer be selling the modules. It's worth a shot, though.
