Do you have a link for the canceled auction?  The burntwire TQ was the first auction for TQ that I had seen.

LOL.  That's the copy that I bought over a year ago - from their webpage not Ebay.  I listed it on the Tome over a year ago too - check out the same smudge mark.

Looks like 2 Dark Tower games in the first auction pic. What did those go for?

FYI - A spreadsheet with the auction prices was posted on the GenCon site but here they are to save the trouble of looking:

$150.00  Dark Tower   Missing a couple of chits. Still very playable. Tower does work.
$325.00  Dark Tower  A fantasy adventure born of electronic wizardry. This a working games that has all its pieces.
$25.00  Dark Tower Parts  Used Parts for Dark Tower Electronic Board Game. All 12 buildings, 4 score cards, 12, keys, 2 flags, 4 pegasus tokens 4 fighters(one is missing sword), 1 Dragon with tongue and a bunch of red pegs(all but one)

I think I recall that at least one didn't sell.  The starting bid was too high I believe.

The one you are thinking of may be Badmikes.  I know he had a reserve on it but IMO it wasnt that high.  It was complete and worked perfectly but the auction staff checked it right before putting it up for bids and the cylinder wouldnt spin when they turned it on.  IIRC Badmike pulled it off the auction block.

Want to hear something really depressing? Thursday was my first full day off since Gen Con. I got some catching up to do here....

I had a similar experience with them last year.  As I recall, my rant about that was over the top even for me.

Kingofpain89 wrote:Last year, we raved about how awesome the food was at the Red Eye....specifically the biscuits and gravy.     This year was definitely not at the same level as it was last year.  Management change or something else....not really sure, but for me it was seriously lacking in just about every way.

Did you notice the sign on the Red Eye's door announcing they're no longer going to be 24-hour during the week? I think even the locals are turning on them. Perhaps if they start marketing themselves to nighttime drunks they'll be able to stay open later.

Finally got mine sorted tonight. Sorry that it's three separate albums -- Facebook has a 60 photo/album limit:

I've already jumped the gun and made my motel reservation for next year, so my camera and I will see you all in 2009!

That was a proper job, Contrarian.  Your captions are hilarious.  My favorite was about the pregnant cosplayer.  Thanks so much for taking the time.

Wow, great pics!  Is it wrong that I got more excited over the pics of the rare items in the auction cases than the cute girls in costumes?

No, it's not wrong at all - and at these forums, you shouldn't even have to ask that question :D

Hey, Contrarian.  Those are some great pictures.  Thanks for posting them.

By the way, I think that's stratochamp and me in picture 28 in the first set (your closest approach to the art show).  I'm not sure what we were doing there.  Probably cutting across from one part of the dealer hall to another.
