this is an interesting tactic, a BIN of $0.01, but the shipping is $7.99....

God, that is just stupid.

Of course, it's probably intended as newbie-bait ... you know, seeing what looks to be a great deal, pressing the button, then checking the shipping price.

Pretty lame, though.  :?

WEFG

Hehehe, perhaps I should win the auction and drive up there and give him his one cent.

Of course, he's got it all figured out and would just say no.

Seriously. . . how can someone "know enough" about Deep Dwarven Delve to have some inkling as to its rarity (enough so that they can bid over $90.00!), but still not know that they can simply buy an entire Silver Anniversary set for less!

Never heard of it. Can someone fill me in why it went for $145? What's the big deal?

It is percieved as being hard to find.  This item came out near the trouble times for TSR and sold poorly;  TSR was pumping out the boxsets and suppliments and diluting there overall sales per item, this item seamed to be passed over on the shelves at the time.  It is actually not that rare but is a very cool read (Not for $145.00 though). :(

Bloodwar typically sells for between $50.00 - $100.00 ($145 is high, but someone might need a Christmas gift  :)  )

It's just a cool item - even the booklets feel nice in your hands with a deep red, soothingly evil feel to them. . .  8)

The little minions throughout the world are inexplicably drawn to the epic battle of evil against evil.

I made a post about a month ago generalizing about what RPG's sell the best and this typifies the "hooks" that draw in the big bucks:

EVIL sells higher

OUTER PLANES sells higher

HIGH LEVEL sells higher

EROTICA sells higher

DEVILS/DEMONS sells higher

EPIC SCOPE sells higher

I am sure "Mr. $145 bid" will happily fantasize about fighting in the Blood War himself.

But hey, I've drifted off to sleep on more than one occasion with scattered thoughts that I was the Nameless One grabbing my axe to go slay the rampant hordes in a neverending struggle. . .

(Don't laugh!  I know everyone here has had their "Geek" power fantasies too!   :D  )

I think part of the cachet of that item was being in the original shrink....I don't think I've actually handled a SW copy of Hellbound in several years, most want to open it up and read the contents....it's actually one of the better Planescape items ever released.

Ok, I didn't get it for $22.50, which I'm ok with.  But does anyone else find the final price a little high?  Seems shillicious to me.

No shilling, or barasoba would have stopped before $200. Also, he has bought from a German reseller. Does not look like a shill account at all.

Had to dig this thread out of the history file to post this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT

In that condition, I would have been shocked to see it go for $50.00 8O
