Gamma World 3rd Edition Box Set Mint:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 07817&rd=1

Final price:  $152.50.  It looks like a couple of guys got into a bidding war using the "HAD to have it" mentality.  (Sigh, been there myself)

Now for those unfamiliar with Gamma World, the game itself has always had a love it or hate it reaction associated with it.  This particular edition compounds that.  Some GW fans feel that this is the best edition, others feel like it is the worst due to the combersome rules and the Marvel Superheroes style action/combat matrix.

Just thought I'd share a bit of eBay silliness.

Gamma World 3d Edition was practically unplayable without the errata.  2d Edition was far better.  Of course the price is far too high, especially given that I have the first five editions of the game, and the grand total of all five came out to about $100.  But I do understand that "Had to have it" mentality, because I just had to have a copy of Dune: Chronicles of the Imperium.  Unlike these guys, I still bid smartly, and won the book.

AD&D Silver Anniversary Collector's Edition
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 39750&rd=1
$75.00 Buy it Now.  I think it's a bit steep (especially since it's opened), even if it is complete.

Looks like it.  Too bad, too, I was going to bid on that one tonight.  But I refuse to go for shill auctions, T_G_E auctions, or ones that have a reserve.  Common themes:  Greed and deceit.

I've only had one quirky seller in the past two months, small warning:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6913093128
Watch out for bargains from rdrage2002.  I was charged $12.95 shipping for an item that cost $4.41 to ship via Priority Mail.  I don't mind paying a small handling charge to make up for the seller's time, as I know just how long it takes to package and sell things … but that's a bit steep, especially without any prior notification.

Tegel Manor with only one of the two maps at $40...

I would not pay that much for the first print.

Ouch!  Two bidders in a very ferocious war.  No comment beyond that.

Same funny thing here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5913363326

and

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5913363841

These two guys are fighting about some other items, too. Looks as if the 0-feedback bidder doesn't want to lose... Sure, the items are pretty nice, but tell them these Planescape boxes sell for < $30 usually ...  8O

Umm, I've got one of those that I bought used for about $5.  It was worth the price, as it unfortunately has water damage, but I didn't get it for collecting reasons.  Tell me though, I know this had like one printing and was pulled thanks to the ERB estate, but how valuable would a decent copy of this book truly be compared to the inflated price on ebay?

It's hard to say... I'm after a copy of Warriors of Mars, and I'm willing to pay in the region of $100-$120 for a copy in decent condition (doesn't have to be mint or NM... VGC will do me).

Because the book comes up rarely, it's impossible to say what it's really worth - to me, it's rare enough to be worth $120, but obviously there are at least two people who think it's worth three times that amount.

Regards

Mike

The last couple that sold on ebay went for $150-$200. They were both in better condition than the one currently up for bid.
