PS: for BClarkie: H-U-G-E is not enough!!!!!! You're perfectly right!!! I was cooking when I connected to ebay and my sense had to be ... obnubilated, erased or what you prefer. I repeat: congratulations to the seller (I won black opal eye!!) and thank you to the buyer

Giorgio was cooking...he was in Italy....so possibly could a bottle of red wine be the culprit of the huge bid? :D I know I like to use a bottle of red when I get the Spaghetti sauce going, and have been known to take a few nips off the bottle while doing so.

I have never made the mistake of drinking and then eBaying. It was just luck for a number of years and then a site I used to visit all the time "The Onion" ran this gem....

That has always served as enough of a warning to me even though it was a spoof news article.

PS Sorry for the link to a site with flash pop up.

Marlith, you realize the ID of bluebird27 belongs to the Onion, right?

I knew the article was not serious. I did not look up any of the User IDs. Interesting though that they used an actual ID and not just a mde up one. Guess maybe they had to for liability or something.

I thought I'd go for the complete set of R's & RPGA (even though I have the R's already), as I'd hopefully be able to upgrade the condition of some and partially complete the set overall (excluding the really rare ones).

I worked on the average of them overall (excluding the Poly's) and went from there.

I'm happy with the end price I paid, and given the end price of the individual ones I think I've had a win.

Plus for once It finished at a reasonable hour here and I was able to log on without falling asleep.. :D  :D

Now to just receive them......I can post on their condition when I get 'em.

$800 for the one, too rich for me, but looked like a stunning copy from the pics.

*fingers crossed*

Yeah, is also a plus re. combined shipping to Oz. Make sure they're double boxed and then some, this time of year ;)

Best not to use that to compare with anything, IMO! :P

(Just like many of the others were not really comparable owing to "TSR file copy #1" and similar provenance: was worth a premium to me, anyhow, albeit not a $450-500 premium! *lol*).

No-one loves RPGA4 it seems... :(

Thanks for steering clear of R1, Jeff. Am feeling pretty happy about that one, still, which I would've doubted for /any/ copy of that mod at that price a year ago.

Had better pay up, now... ;)

This really isn't a silly auction price but reading his descriptive text is like reading a dry tech manual. It puts you to sleep and if you're not careful you'll be burned.

Budget is a little lower than 4K, still very nice copies and both of them will not go cheap.
