Disclaimer: I am not trying to be overly suspicious about this seller. This is more of a general question.

Does it bother any of you guys to see a feedback of 0 or 1 on a seller of an item that is gonna go for $100+. Just makes me nervous...

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

I don't have a problem buying from 0 feedback sellers, even with relatively high priced items. I bought a white box set from a guy with a feedback under 5, and a copy of Titan from a 0 feedback seller. There might be a little more risk... say instead of 1% risk, you might be looking at 2-3%. Still leaves 97% being OK.

Usually I'll ask a question while the auction is running, and try to gauge what the guy is like from the reply. Every time so far, I've received a reply that makes it seem they're legit, so I bid. Actually, I have to say that in my experience, 0 feedback sellers are among the best - they're super keen to impress (to get that first feedback I guess) so that they really put a lot of effort in.

The last time I bought something from a 0 (a copy of EPT, for $77), they had shipping listed at $7. After the auction I indicated I was out in Australia and to let me know how much extra to add for postage as $7 wouldn't cover it, and they refused - they told me they'd listed $7 for postage, so that's all they wanted. Postage ended up being $25. I think they didn't know what an EPT set was likely to go for and felt that I'd paid too much for it, so they thought they were helping me out.

Regards

Mike

Forgot to add - another benefit with buying from a 0 feedback seller is that the item will generally (not always the case) go for less than the same item from an established seller.

Cheers,
Malcolm

Crap your right!  I think it did have a sticker and there's CLEARLY NO STICKER in that picture.

The guy might be moving counterfeit material here.

Did you read the description?

"What's Truly rare is Official TSR ShrinkWrap that only came on these products produced in the early 80s or even as far back as the 70s! (NOTE!!!! Very few original owners are even alive any more because they are so dang old!)"

He must know a lot of people on these boards :-)

I was alive in the 1970s.  If I remember correctly, I invented dirt.

Not bad for an April fool's auction.

Okay, for those of you who didn't know already (and those that did thanks for playing along), it's my auction.  My little April 1st prank for the day. Gamecollection is my Ebay name..

Actually no, it's just a pic I found on Google of crinkled up Shrinkwrap.  My Silver box is still shrunk since I hope to sell it to a Shrinkwrap junkie someday soon. :)

Here's the funniest part... I got an email today from Cougarinard asking about the auction!

Question from eBay Member: AD&D 25th Anniversary Box Set !RARE! SHRINKWRAP

Dear gamecollection,

can you confirm that this is the big silver box with reprints of G123, etc & L3? & not the smaller brown fast play rules box or other? --dave

To view the item, go to: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 3185504303

Thank you,
cougarrinard

And I had to reply:

No, it's just the Shrinkwrap. It's not the box or contents.  JUST THE SHRINKWRAP.

And why did you ask 4 times? (I got 4 emails from you that were exactly the same)

Thanks!  I hope you bid high because I know you have bought a lot of Anniversary boxes without the Shrinkwrap... this would really help you out!

I was going to auction off something like "Gygax's Underwear he wore while inventing D&D" or "My 9th level Wizard Name Fozzie" or something like that but I decided on Shrinkwrap since it spoke to an issue I feel moderately strongly about. :)

Hope you all enjoyed it.. April Fool!

(And uh Frank, I'll be expecting Iluvdnd to mail me a penny plus $18.50 in shipping! :) I know that's not you but you know him the way Clark Kent knows Superman so maybe you can pass on the message.   )

Wow, that's unfortunate.  The bidding ended before kipironbeard had a chance to bid.
