Yes, I was very surprised.  Then again the end time of the auction was a poor choice... early Tuesday morning is not conducive to last minute bidding unless one is using esnipe or some other sniping service.
I had figured it was going to go for $1,500 or so.  What happened to pitttbulll and davidvanwie and all the other new big bidders?

I am surprised, too. Considering recent events, this auction is very much against the current trend, especially considering the condition it seems to be in. Most of us expect the top items to rise in value in future years; in this light, dbartman is to be congratulated on this auction.

Thanks, I was pleasantly surprised to get it at that price, in light of recent events.  Maybe everyone expected it to go for much higher?  Of course, just a few years back a couple of them went for quite a bit less - I missed out on those.  I had an opportunity to pick up Ghost and Tamoachan for $850.00 but that's a long story...  Anyway this one is a documented existing M copy and that's good enough for me!

Hi Muaddib5 -

Thanks for the link to the War of Wizards. I've been after a copy of that game for ages.... and while I think $55 is probably over the odds, I'm very glad to get my hands on it.

I was only logged on to check something completely unconnected... but a quick look at the acaeum pays dividends, as always.

Regards

Mike

Thanks for the advertising muaddib5

I thought that I would try and take advantage of the recent round of bidding madness.

Wait a second - what's that hiding in this auction?
It's an R3 Egg of the phoenix:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 3177285678

The guy says he definitely won't ship out of the US and, besides the R3, it's a lot of average stuff, so I'm not going to bid on it and thought I'd let you guys know about it.

That's just the kind of guy I am.  :D

Thanks for the Escape from New York post. :D

I'm gonna be in on that.

Side story: My friends and I make Gen Con every year (since 1983) - we only game once or twice a year, but the convention is our extended Guys-Night-Out. Anyway, we play Escape from New York at the close of the convention every year. A strange tradition, but there you have it. My copy is complete and in good condition, but I'd love to get a clean one.
We have actually drawn crowds...kinda bizarre if you think about it. 8O

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!
