And look who is bidding on it know, everyone FAVORITE DM/$11.00 integral bidder.... the "Coug".   I guess thats why he wont cancel the bids because he knows some schmuck like Cougar will try to beat everyone from this forum on principle, just to try to  prove his "superiority". Kind of pathetic.

Puffin book.  Spent last 25 years on shelf next to some GW rares.  Rare by association.  :?

Funny thing is, the more I stare at it the more I actually want that Puffin book!  Maybe a good snipe...  :P

Vampire Puffin
Frequency: Very Rare
No. Appearing: 10-40
Armor Class: 0
Move: 6"//24"
Hit Dice: 2
% In Lair: 0%
Treasure Type: Nil
No. Of Attacks: 1
Damage/Attack: 1-6
Special Attacks: Energy drain, Drain blood
Special Defenses: +1 or better weapon to hit
Magic Resistance: See Below
Intelligence: Very
Alignment: Chaotic evil
Size: S
Psionic Ability: Nil

The Vampire Puffin is the bane of all artic explorers who cross its path. They have been known to overwhelm whole parties of adventurers with sheer numbers, leaving behind desiccated husks. They attack with their sharp beaks, latching on to their victims and draining 1-6 HP of blood per round until destroyed. Created by a deranged magic-user, these small birds have all the abilities and weaknesses of human vampires, with a few exceptions. They must sleep in native snow during the day. Holy water has no effect on them, since the oil coating their feathers prevents skin contact. They have the innate ability to summon 2-20 skeletal emperor penguins, which will attack fiercely at the puffin's command. The most dreaded ability is the puff attack, during which the puffin rapidly inflates and deflates itself. This causes all viewers to make a saving throw vs. death magic at -4 or die laughing. Vampire puffins are always under the command of a master puffin, who has 4 HD and is fully 2" tall.
The only known way to permanently destroy a vampire penguin is to feed it to a zombie elephant seal.

If you hit a Rowsdower, you get to keep it.

eBay: Redirect

There's a slightly milder flavor on the UK page
eBay: Redirect
- "report" button isn't present on the US version of this one.

I reported him once for that deliberately deceptive reserve in his listing text, and a second time following that recent outburst (putting it into a RL context).

Out of interest, did you actually bother to try talking him into a more "sensible" BIN-relisting after he attempted to hook your non-binding $299.99 bid?

p.s. thx for the vampire puffin!  :)

about1402-0.html

*shakes head* Feel free, mate.

You could've bid $300 last time and saved us the hassle...

You're just following the false trail he left last year. If I remember correctly, ALL those high prices were owed solely to him waving the stick above the dog's head and asking it to jump higher.

Going back and looking after you've bid ain't the best tactic, IMHO.
*shrugs*

Warriors of Mars

Mars wrote:What is a Warriors of Mars really worth? I have been looking for this one for the past couple of years now and a few have come up on Ebay. I think about a year ago they were in the $100 range but since then there seems to be a number that have been selling in the multi 100 range. Is this just a high point in the market for this item?

There is one listed right now

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5938917952

where the seller probably has a reserve of $350 since that seems to be what the seller bought it for about a month ago (although they claim to have had it for 8 years and paid $350 for it then)

eBay.com Item Bid History

keepontheborderlands ( 108) US $350.00 Oct-20-04 01:10:26 PDT
thefantasymuseum ( 571)      US $155.00 Oct-19-04 21:35:06 PDT
falconergh ( 54)                    US $149.99 Oct-20-04 01:06:53 PDT

"although they claim to have had it for 8 years and paid $350 for it then"

(Notice the crappy text edit on the latest auction...).

Heh.... snap.

Thanks, Mars. (Guess I'm a bit slower at typing!).

People with short memories and deep wallets...

Non-D&D TSR - Warriors of Mars
"I know that there was another copy sold on Ebay. I beleive it went for about $50-60. It is also mentioned on a few TSR items from that era."

"8O Wow! Final bid was $199."

"About ther $ 199, I'm repeating myself but the right price for an item is the price somebody is willing to pay for it."

Or, rather, what the buyer thinks it's worth after some seller waves a copy around for $450, descending, for long enough for them to see dollar signs...

*waits for the next one to appear*

(Apologies if I'm sounding harsh....).

59 later Polys including #69-110, 113-124

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5954824270
Just opened at $5 (10 day auction).
... Usually go pretty low, but the last time I left mentioning a large (albeit lower numbered) lot until late in the auction, the current high bidder wasn't too chuffed! ;)

FirstQuest (vinyl), half-decent looking copy;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 4070841193
$30 with 1 3/4 days to go

eBay listings
1981 Dragon calendar, $2
ATWM #3, $2; both under 2 days to go
(Interestingly the 1980 calendar with writing is moving along quicker than the minty copy earlier in this thread; maybe they've seen Noble Knight's prices...)

"my puppy got the white box (sorry)"
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 5954778799
(that's what thanks they get for their user name!)
Interesting reaction to the BIN request- pretty close to the mark, IMO- but not sure what happened to the second box...

I've locked this thread due to the high volume of replies (slows the forum down).  It'll remain here for research purposes, however.  In the meantime, there's a fresh eBay thread currently posted.
