I wonder if the bidder realizes that these "60 adventures" are about a page long each.  They could be under the impression that they are 60 "full-length" adventures?

:?:

I bought something off jamesbolivardigriz just a couple of weeks ago... I wonder if he misplaced the decimal point with his initial bid (ie he meant to bid $10.00 but put in a grand by mistake). And I've bought off Ozvortex in the past as well (it's a small collecting world in Australia), and don't seem to remember any shenanigans. Looks to me like James is being bumped up by a newbie who is setting their valuation of the product based on the current (erroneous?) bid.

I think I might email james and let him know what his bid is up to...

Regards

Mike

Well, it's all mine now. I couldn't help myself -- it's sort of cheesy and cool all at the same time. I'm sure I've made worse $10 purchases ...

Hmmm. A $10 wire rack? Uhhh, I have a genuine imitation TSR Rubbermaid container I'd sell you. $20.

i got curious and asked the bidder about the Book of Lairs bid.  he told me he screwed up the decimal point.  he also seems to realize the seller has a shill and is not too happy about it.

I emailed jamesbolivardigriz, and he confirmed it was a decimal point error. I'm not sure its a shill though... I bought two items off the seller just a couple of days ago, and have bought from him in the past and had no problem with suspicious bidding. Hell, one of the items I won over the weekend (Heart of Oak, FGU naval rules) was for less than it usually goes for. I think its just a new bidder with no idea.

I forgot what ebay's rules are supposed to be on bid retractions, but in this instance, if he doesn't want the book for what it's going for, shouldn't he take the risk of retracting his bid anyway?

The bid has been retracted. However, the myth of the ultra-rare Book of Lairs is already spreading. Here's your chance to BIN one for only $55: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 70529&rd=1

(actually, the seller offers two of them)

Not to mention they simply cut and paste the other person's description.

Exotic book dealer must be thinking this eBay thing is really easy after all!  Can't wait for all the money to start rolling in!

I e-mailed him a "You're an Idiot" message. Waiting for the return hate mail. It's been too long since I provoked a fight with a Newbay moron.

My message in a note to the seller just a moment ago.

"You seem to be new here on E-Bay. So I will be as gentile as I can with this. Your beginning and Buy It Now (BIN) price ranges are really far higher than you will ever get for this item on E-Bay. The item is far from rare and the same books (New ones) can still be purchased in most game shops for that price, or less......

And 11 bucks for Media Mail for a single book?!?! That is simply gouging.... You should simply and far more honestly state that you are passing E-Bay selling costs to the buyer and also charging them for your time as well, instead of covering up those facts with completely false media mail shipping costs. Media mail charges by USPS for that book is more likely to be 85 cents, rather than 11 dollars. I await your harsh reply."

I am sure I will get one too....

Dear eyeamgawd,

You asked:
"$11 for shipping? Do you ship it overnight?"

Thank you for your question. No shipping should be $2.85, there was a problem with entering the infromation. Sorry for the delay on my anwser.

Looks like they didn't take the bait. Damn it, I feel the need to persecute someone! If anybody sees a stupid shipping amount, can you post the auction so I can go after them? (Been a frustrating week).

I just received a reply to my E-Mail. Quite civil and actually professionally stated.

"Thanks for your question, I have caught the mistake on the shipping amount as well as change my starting prices. I did not have the chance to enter this infromation the first time myself and paid the price. I thank you for your polite question and hope to be able to do business with you in the future."

As indicated by Deadlord, He has now lowered his shipping rate to a far more reasonable 2.85 media mail rate.
