That's alright Dave.
It was just a hedge on my part. I wouldn't have minded picking it up for
cheap but wasn't so sure about spending that little bit more.
I'd be interested to know whether you're able to fix the foxing or not!

Sure, nobody apologize for out-bidding the lowly grodog ;)  :D

ABEbooks has a definition of:  "Foxed, Foxing-[image] Brown spotting of the paper caused by a chemical reaction, generally found in 19th century books, particularly in steel engravings of the period."  They also have an image of foxing at AbeBooks: Book Collecting Guide - AbeBooks' Glossary of Book Terms

Foxing, as defined by Stanford...:  Conservation OnLine

...and by the OED:  4. trans. To discolour (the leaves of a book). See FOXED ppl. a. and from FOXED:

3. Of the leaves of books, also of timber; Discoloured by decay; stained with brownish-yellow spots.

1847 HALLIWELL s.v., Timber is said to be foxed, when it becomes discoloured in consequence of incipient decay. Warw. 1848 HARE Guesses Ser. II. 335 A torn or foxt and dog's-eared volume. 1885 A. DOBSON At Sign Lyre 83 The Burton I bought for a florin, And the Rabelais foxed and flea'd.
