Dude you must be OLD.....

It was in 1992. The packers were a middling team then and the magic man (Already really old and ready to retire any second) still had a little bit of magic left in him. He had played a couple of good games up to the 6th week, when I took over the fantasy team the starting QB was injured and not even playing.....and had been for several games (Part of the reason the team was in dead last place).  So I droppped that guy and picked up the Magic man from the wire. He was fantastic down the stretch. And along with some other waiver moves and trades my team took first place at the end. And that was when the season was much shorter than it is now with 17 weeks of games.

The packers traded with Atlanta for Brett Favre the following year and have never looked back and rightly so, not so rightly, However, many packer fans have forgotten or never knew the Magic Man.

Then you sir are either a devoted student of the game, or you searched Magic Man on yahoo, or googled it.

I didn't cheat, I swear. :)   Just been watching football since as far back as I can remember. Although being where I come from that shouldn't be too much of a suprise, its kind of like a disease if you know what I mean. Even in the offseason around here its all Steelers all the time.

My apologies. The year was 1989........

Sorry.

Don had 27 TD's passing 5 TD's rushing, 4,300 yards passing and 350 yards rushing.

I was right about his leaving when the pack picked up Favre. He did stay on in GB until 1993 but never had another great year like that one, In 1993 he moved to Indy, where he spent a couple more years backing up worse QBs than he was even at his age then he moved on to Detroit and retired from there in 1997.

My memory is about gone now.........

It's a tough matchup against the Cubes, Mark. You need more than 140 to stop their relentless ooze towards the flag.

Next time, bring some oil and torches.

Mike

Oh yeah... and next time I might think about starting Moss. He did OK for a rookie, his first week at the Pats.

There were two QB's playing for the Bangles that (combined) scored more fantasy points than Drew Brees..... my starting QB... and neither one had a TD.

The starting QB for the Bangles was pulled by the middle of the second quarter... He had 35 yards passing and an INT. His replacement got more yardage and between the two inept QB's they outpaced Drew in total fantasy score.

Not hard since Drew had only 4 POINTS!!!!

So should I trade Drew for an upgrade to a second tier WR or a second tier RB, or both?

Not likely..............

I aint giving up on the Aints just yet, but who woulda thunk Brees would start the season with 4 fantasy points TOTAL? Against Indy no less......... where anyone who knows anything about american football, knows that any team playing them has to score 4 TD's minimum to have any chance......

BTW: I would give my starting QB's left nut to have your teams 140 points.......

My team is all but guaranteed the Lowest fantasy total points in the league. My only slim hope is that my kiker has a few long field goals and that Edgerin James has an amazingly good game tonight and no one else has a single point.

There were some odd scores.  Hell, who woulda thunk career spare Derrick Ward (RB Giants) would have more yards than Reggie Bush and Deuce MCallister combined????  Just an off game for the Aints. The Colts were ready to play; the Saints looked like they didn't know pre-season was over.  I bet they fix themselves up really quick when not playing the world champs. I'll buy low if I was in a fantasy league and someone wanted to give up Brees, Bush, McAllister, or Colston in disgust.
Speaking of, how about LT's 25 yds rushing?  Second lowest total of his career, are there some panic deals going on somewhere in Fantasy World because of this???

Perhaps, but he also had a lot of receptions a rushing TD (even if he only had 25 yards, one of em scored) and the TD pass too. LT's 26 fantasy points were almost double the points my stud RB had, and LT scored higher than his projected fantasy points, just not quite the way he was expected to score them.

Most On-Line fantasy leagues update fantasy team/leagues scoring constantly as each football game progresses. It has done so in the league I am in on Yahoo Sports......

I stand by my statement that mine was the worst draft in our 8 team league.
My team had the lowest score of the week. By far. :(

And that score had little to do with starting player selection either. No combination of any of my players (including the bench) would have gotten me the leagues highest score this week (NOT EVEN CLOSE) .... Although I woulda won (Barely) if I had benched all my New Orleans Aints players this past week....

Would any of you have done that though? Bench the NFL's highest scoring offense from last year? :?:

And it gets no better for my team in week two either. I play the leagues highest scoring team from last week.....  an 0-2 start for team min.dmg. seems likely.

Have I mentioned that I hate autodrafts? Sheese. :(  :(

OK, I will stop the crying...... for now...........
