I've bought a few different books from Lulu, with mixed results:

  • Wolfgang Baur's Empire of the Ghouls = color interior pages and h/c, h/c binding was crap, in process of working with their customer support folks to replace the copies
  • Wolfgang Baur's Arabian Nights sc/pb books with color interiors and binding was good (same with Castle ShadowCrag too, which was all b&w interior)
  • OSRIC's Monsters of Myth = h/c binding was good, though some copies (our local gaming group placed a bulk order) had problems with the way the covers were bound to the boards

So, it looks like their h/c books are dicier than their sc/pb ones.

I used lulu for some of the earlier Osric modules and seemed to encounter no problems, but haven't used them for sometime.

In the meanwhile, if folks haven't received their packages by next weekend (for USA orders) or in two for international orders, please post here and we'll address them.  That'll allow time for whatever vagaries exist in the USPS to work themselves out, I imagine.

Vagaries.  Right.

No sign of my $150.00 Limited Edition (with supersized map and fries).

To those who received one, take heart in the knowledge that fewer than the official 51 ... er, 53, ... er, 500 ... whatever number of "official" LE copies were actually processed and shipped out.

Except an albatross is more likely to land on your doormat in a timely manner (sorry, bad Carl :D )

You can never have too much of something you didn't need in the first place.

They swallowed one of my orders and bound a few extra pages into my HC copy of Monsters of Myth. Their shipping was not too slow considering it took time to manufacture my books. So yeah, prone to error.

No sign of my copy either...

Hmm, no, I don't have a gambling problem, I'm winning, and winning is not a problem. That's like saying Michael Jordan has a basketball problem, or Def Leppard has an awesomeness problem. So why don't y'all pour some sugar on that?

Thanks for the update Eric.

enshook wrote:4) The packaging PPP uses to return the item will be the exact same packaging originally used. However, if directed to do so, we will use packaging you send to us . This packaging that is provided by you can be contained either separately inside your return package, or you may direct us to re-use the packaging you send the damaged product in. Please make certain the return container you send us is clean of all other markings but for your address, a return address, and standard postal markings.

Eric, with regard to the one piece map I think what you have failed to recognise is that the original packaging is at fault for the damage to the product. Not the postie.  Sending the map back to me in the same packaging will just result in the same issue.

I can only speak for myself but given the price of the item I would have expected a tube to be used.  I certainly didn't expect the map to be folded in fours and then crushed/crinkled.  So if I am to read this correctly you would like me to send the map and include a tube with no markings so you can send it back in the state I would have expected it to arrive in in the first place? Eric, just quote me the price of a tube.

What is the likely turn around time on this? Given that the LE BC was meant to be a limited print run are you expecting to have to print more of the maps? Or was the print run larger, as I would expect, than 53?

Return postage........ It would be a hell of a lot cheaper and easier for everyone who has a damaged item to E-MAIL in and report what the piece is.
Bottle City is like herpes, the problem that has no cure and never goes away. I wouldn't take a copy if it were free.
