What are you thinking, Rakeesh?  That the seller is misinformed, or that the Acaeum listing is misinformed?

Errata sheets in a 1st print?  Possible, I suppose, in a scenario where the errors were noticed after the booklets were printed but before the boxed sets were distributed.

Thoughts?

I suppose it is plausible, that errata sheets were included in some 1st print box sets.  One option might be that these were the last few box sets sold, perhaps even left behind and sold much later - after the errata sheets for the 2nd print were printed.  In the same way that Chaosium now, still discover the occasional lot of older material in their storage - and sell it through the website alongside the later print stuff.

More likely I suspect is that the original owner got (e.g. purchased, was sent, got it with something else etc..) the errata sheet later and put it in the box.  One of the reason I like box sets in D&D, and other roleplaying games, is that the boxes are handy for sticking all sorts of useful stuff in.  Old D&D boxes often come with supplements, bits of magazines, photocopies, homebrew adventures, odd dice etc...  :D

More broadly I don't get the impression from this seller that he is super-serious about selling.  Considering what it is (and he clearly knows that it will attract some attention), not that much detail, not that much information, money orders only...  I maybe maybe might be tempted to put in a low offer, but not going anywhere near $4.8k  (besides I bet he doesn't sell to non-US countries).  Or I could spend more money on Xmas presents for the family :D

Or we can just continue to discuss it here unabated.  I mean after all this is the premier D&D collecting site on the web...

This sounds like a discussion from a while back over on Dragonsfoot.  Maybe they are just the premier site for D&D discussion - I can't remember.

Is this 3 original Greg Bell artworks, 1 Sutherland (the Stirges) and 1 other (looks like Jeff Dee boots on that swordsman...)? Or are these copies?

Anybody find out what the name is written in the Men & Magic book?

I think these might be the "Prints from Dungeons & Dragons" set 2: Witch, Hippogriff, Wizrds Fighting, Barbarian, Werewolf.   They are listed in the catalog pages of a number of GK logo'd early books.  So I don't think they are original drawings but rather larger prints.

At one point it was proposed to formally add the tagline on Dragonsfoot to something like Dragonsfoot "The premier 1st Edition AD&D site".

The premier site devoted to off-topic discussions involving hot chicks, who should play Conan in a new movie, and ripping on war memorials. Ok, I'm generalizing, but at any one time there are several dozen open topics dealing with non gaming/D&D areas of interest rather than anything having to do with gaming or D&D, 1st edition or otherwise.  Hell, most of the time it's hard to FIND a D&D related thread...sheesh.
And as a side note, the lack of gaming knowledge/basic intelligence from a lot of posters on that site are enough to drive me nuts...I don't know how regular posters here who also post there do it without going mad.  Call me elitist...but I LIKE having the discourse set at a certain bar without having to go under.....sometimes WAAAAAY under....to fill in the lowest common denominator.
Maybe they should be the premier 1st edition AD&D site, and we can be the premier OD&D/D&D/AD&D Collector's site.
