The Fringe Dweller hoists the heavy sack onto his shoulder, the bitter winds bite deep as he journeys deeper into the Thornwood Forest, home to the dark ones.

Indeed. She looks a hell of a lot like an old girlfriend of mine, minus the sword and chainmail. Is the mod any good? I have it, but I don't think I've ever read it.

If 'minus the chainmail' is how you remember her, it must have been a consummate relationship...

She was rock stupid. I dated her most of my freshman year in college, along with a few other chicks. Well, the dates didn't consist of much else besides going to the submarine races, but that was all she was good for.
Most of the redheads I've known were fairly smart, barring her. I think Howard portrays Sonja as relatively smart, IIRC.
I do find it interesting that the modules that TSR produced that included characters/worlds from the sword-and-sorcery literary works were strictly Howard's.

I went out with a redhead once - no hair, just a red head 8O (another one for the old jokes graveyard!!)

full lot of original d&d stuff:

http://cgi.ebay.com/D-D-Original-White- ... 46QQihZ007

all in all with the recent prices of OCEs i'd say that 300 bucks is a decent proposal... (and you can even try the "best offer" option)

As I recall, Red Sonja is not Howard's character at all.

I haven't done my research, but as I recall, she is the invention of pastiche writers...grafted on to Howard's setting.

She is based on a mixture of the Howard character "Dark Agnes" (here stories can be found in the OOP Sword Woman paperback collection) and the character Red Sonya from the short story "Shadow of the Vulture".  Roy Thomas basically created her when he adapted the "Vulture" short store for an early issue of Conan the Barbarian comic, turning her into a regular co-star for Conan in that comic. BTW, she is also the main source of the "chainmail bikini" seen in fantasy art for the last few decades...according to Wiki, Esteban Maroto drew here with this and future artists and fans enjoyed it so much they continued the tradition.

Howard did have a couple of swordswomen in his stories...Belial and Valeria spring to mind.

I think that she is naturally attributed to Howard. I know I thought she was his. I even have some of the paperbacks.

I was just wondering this morning about Harami/Faro...where are they now?

Lost Tamoachan #227.  Seller says its Near Mint, although I think thats a bit of stretch.  Same seller does have lots of other interesting things(particularly Non-TSR) on top of it too though.  :)

I've been eying up the Cardboard Heroes for a week now but my visa bill just showed up in the mail so I don't think I'm going to bid.

Is this the same seller that sold a set of Group One Traveller items a month ago?
