'bout right, I'd say.  Lance was like Gene Wilder as the Waco Kid in Blazing Saddles on that one.  "Oh deary dear!"

Nice win.   :D

1st printing, appears to be in decent shape, although no ref sheets.

The seller says both he and his brother bought copies of which they are still the original owners of and neither have Ref sheets and are both good about keeping things "in the box".

Which makes one wonder if any of the 1st prints maybe didn't have Ref sheets since 2 people claim they don't have them and are the original owners ???

Can EGG shed any light on this possibility ?

I agree.  Although they have been a little lower more recently.  The two best two recent (i.e. full auction, non-BIN) guides would probably be; (i) the VF/NM set won by a2jeff in March 07 ($1,725 came with 4 supplements, but did not accept paypal), or further back, (ii) that lovely looking set with (unfortunately) a great big label with a picture of a tree stuck on the back - won by southwicksw in April 06 for $1,915.  He then immediately tried to re-sell it for $500 more to no avail.  :D

There have been a few G/VG and partial/incomplete sets recently in the $550-900 range.  So, x2 price for complete plus great condition probably seems OK.

Sorry no link (I don't keep 'em). I do keep records for a lot of rares, but only on a spreadsheet.  The 2nd print woodgrain (recent low price) I am referring to is>>>

May 12, 2007
seller: a2jeff
buyer: wms58
price: 560.00
condition: F/G (pencil marks, some pen, stains, pages loose, all box corners split.  However set is complete).

(apologies to the seller or buyer if my grading harsh or inaccurate, it is mainly for my own use/records)

In contrast, chromaticknight won a set with no ref sheets (but 5 supplements), for $933.32 on Nov. 23 2006.  This set was (a) complete and (b) looked to be in much better condition.

Hard to say on prices - more of an art than a science  :D

Right on from my perspective.  The $1999 BIN 2nd print looks fab, but missing ref. sheets??  The one I picked up had them included, so curious on that point.

At least its white.  Moreso than most of the "white boxes" I normally see on Ebay.

Good timing...

One of those adventures is "Witchstone", from Polyhedron 21.

Nov 1984.  Witchstone AD&D adventure; Why Gargoyles Don't Have Wings, But Should!; Take Command of a Titan; Five New NPCs; Module
Building from A to Z

A few pages back I posted a link to an auction for a GM copy of a "Witchstone" tournament from Gen Con South in 1983. At the time, I didn't realize it was also a published adventure.

zhowar wrote:"DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS 1983 GENCON WITCHSTONE RPGA MODULE"
Up for auction is a GM copy of Witchstone, which is an RPGA module run at Gencon South in 1983. The first paragraph of the introduction reads:

"This is the RPGA module for GENCON SOUTH 1983.  The module is divided into three sections: The Journey to the Hills of the Giants, The Hill Witch and a special section for the DM which includes PC stats, THACO sheets, and monster sheets with the amount of damage each monster can take."

Also included in the auction is Gencon XIII program booklet from 1980.

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Grodog, is this new information for your tournament page? I see you have some Gen Con South listings but not this one.

I can't make out the author's name on Witchstone. Can some with Polyhedron 21 look it up?
