I see Dragonstrove now has one in their rares listings.

By the way, does anyone here want to cop to nailing DT's Inverness and Tamo?   :D  Hard to believe the Inver actually sold for the asking price of $3000.

Did it sell or was it taken down?

tdewey10 wrote:It would only matter for early woodgrains or similar items if someone used a booklet from a later printing and put it inside a newer printing or something  I don't know how different the early 1st/2nd/etc were so I probably couldn't tell if this was done--but I'd be annoyed to find that my hypothetical first/2nd printing woodie had a random booklet from the 4th printing (if such was discernable)..
The Acaeum has a well documented and very detailed description of each editions books and the pre-publication box set as well (I believe the only difference in the woodie pre-pub and the first edition is the lack of a sticker on the box top). Additionally, I think that all of the differences between the various editions of the woodgrain sets (And the white box sets too for that matter) have been discussed here enough to eliminate most folks concerns as to possible mixing and matching of any separate edition of the wood grain box sets.

IMO: Concerns regarding any wood grain set (for me at least) that might be up at auction would be geared more towards completeness and overall condition rather than mixed-matched books and box. I do however recall a wood grain first edition box set for sale on E-Bay a few years back that had one book from a second edition set and the remainder of the set was first edition. There was a huge amount of discussion about that set here and eventually (as I recall) one of the heavy collectors here bought it.

Of course mixing and matching books to boxes for white sets would be far easier and (for obvious reasons) far more common than for wood grain sets. Woodies are simply too rare; and for any true re-seller to have more than one wood grain set for sale would be highly unlikely and unusual in the extreme. Only a few die hard collectors here have any wood grain sets at all and collectors with more than one are more rare than the wood grain box sets themselves (One collector here once showed the Acaeum members his collection of SEVEN (7)  8O  8O wood grain box sets not too long ago with photos of the sets together).

Attention Catalog Collectors:

1982 MPC Catalog, features MPC D&D sets; might be a good source to determine if the 3rd set ever really existed or not:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

If someone here wins this, I'm sure we'd all appreciate a scan of the relevant pages :D :D
