So how would you verify that signature?

Picture is a bit blurry, but it looks legit.

Having been privy to Gary's gaming group for 7 years, I've had many things signed by him.

Huh. I have a GG-signed response to rules queries, but it doesn't look the same. The Gs look different, although the rest of the letters are the similar. Unfortunately my scanner is broken so I can't put it here. Can anyone supply references to other authenticated GG sigs?

Yes, Gary's "G's" do vary a little.

I have had close to 50 things signed by Gary over the last few years while gaming at his house. I'm pretty sure that that's his signature.

The second G in faro's example looks somewhat like it does in my document. There is variation in the final X as well. Here's the text:

#1 ANTI-MATTER
AREA of EFFECT- any specific area
CASTIGN TIME- 2 segments

This spell is very powerful therefore the player & non-player charicter shall get reference and learn this spell from your DM I am giving them control and usage of this spell to them. This spell is mostly for deffence it enables the player to transport enemy to any were the possesor wishes through antimatter. Also the possesor may use it to be a transportation method as in teleport.

#2 ARMAGEDON
AREA of EFFECT- inffinitive
CASTING TIME- 0

This spell is the most powerful spell in all D&D and AD&D,only one person in your campaign can know it or use it,and only by the most powerful at the time, also this spell can only be used once by the whole campaign.

#3 DEREZE
AREA of EFFECT- one object
CASTING TIME- 6 segments

This spell enables the user to erase an object and if the object is human he/she may not be reserected by any means.

#4 PILLORY
AREA of EFFECT- 1-6 creature's
CASTING TIME- 4segments

This spell creates a pillory in witch the creature's get imprisoned

YOUR'S TRULY
[signed in black ink] Gary Gygax
endquote

There it is in all its pre-spellcheck glory. Note how he doesn't put spaces after punctuation. However, since many TSR products written by others bore his name, perhaps an office assistant typed this for his sign-off.

Did I miss something here or did a twelfth print of the basic box set and a fourth print of the expert rules box set just sell for over $100 USD with the boxes being fairly beat up?

Or was this just one of those auctions where you can see two people really wanting something for whatever reason? Or did I miss something in there? Thanks,

Seller also has B/X1 Nights Dark Terror.  How often do you see one of those on Ebay?

Only one way to find out... and I'm not risking it being what it says it is. *hopes hopes* If not, oh well. I can sell it.

The picture is a 1st, the description is a 2nd beta.  Hopefully that will average out to a 2nd alpha for you!
