Good point!  Everyone knows I spell my name with an extra 's' ... "G. Kjakssgaard. Oh well.  Better luck next time I guess.

Man, I saw the photo of that, ouch. Reminds me of the Silver Age Fantastic Four comics I bought that were in great shape, with the name "Candy Moser" written prominently across the cover in INK.  Through the years, I've seen other silver age titles (Spiderman, etc) inscribed with the Moser sig.  Talking to other collectors, it seems Ms Moser scribbled in ink across the cover of a very extensive Silver Age collection she had, which is now floating around (you can spot pieces of it by the sobs of frustration from collectors who come across an otherwise nice copy of say, Spiderman #14, only to find the Moser sig slapped on Spiderman's ass....)

It'll go for a ton.  I've been wondering when he would start breaking out the heavy stuff.  Some really cool items in this current batch of auctions.

Well....the guy sent me a reply.  The box is a 4th or 5th and is pretty nice looking.  So his original description of the box was not very accurate at all.

He also sent me a response to my questions. He added that his reserve is now $150. He may just get it too with the box picture now present. Nice looking box .....and the books are all in excellent to near mint shape (Rusty Staples).

The set has to be a fifth print though (Or possibly a hybrid Fifth Box/Sixth Books) as the books have no price on the bottom front covers. One would need to see page 9 of Men & Magic to determine for sure. If so, it would not be the first such 5/6 hybrid box set known.

A set has been reported that has a Fifth print box (no starburst), but has Sixth print booklets -- possibly a case of the last batch of Fifth print boxes bundled with the first run of Sixth booklets (thanks to Sean Cruz for this info)

The guy is killing himself with the "no Paypal"....not a lot of people want to send a $200 money order to someone.

So, is the Black Box Set a First Print then?
What of the Wood Grain sets?
What print would they be?

I sent the guy a note:

Too bad you wont use Paypal or ship outside the USA. I think this one woulda been gone by now otherwise. For my own protection, I will not even bid on listings for $200 if I cannot use Paypal and I have friends outside the USA who are BIG gamers and collectors. Especially in England and Italy. Best of luck anyway, you may get your sale despite all the restrictions you have set for the listing.

This thread should help with the Tractics printings:

Black box was apparently the first print.

Thanks that helps, also Mark sent me a link to a Tomb Treasure Forum which explains that the black box came in at least two prints, both being before TSR's wood grain box set.
