Aside from the obvious (there are more volumes of Encyclopedia Magica), the earlier two volume set simply lists magic items, it doesn't give the full write-ups, or provide their references. Its sort of a "first draft" of the latter 4-volume set, in a sense. Basically, the two-tome version is next to useless for practical gaming.

The Encyclopedia Magica is actually a useful set of books.  It contains fullt stats/descriptions for nearly every magic item published in any AD&D book published before 1994.

The two volume set is more or less useless.

I assume the 'all pages are there' comment refers to the Fazzle, Inverness (DM copy), Tamo (Staff copy), and Tsojoconth.
