So, I recently won a copy of U&WA @
** expired/removed eBay auction **
(along with a 2nd GH from the same seller; neither is in particularly wonderful condition, but that's OK :D ) but I find that without the other books on hand, it's not very easy for me to tell what printing that book is.

Am I just missing the obvious clues @ Original D&D Set?  If not, are there any good telltales that would clearly ID the printing of the book without being able to refer to another book or the box?

The short answer is "yes".  I'll check my notes and update the post with more info.

[Edit]I originally got this list from Faro, so he may have even more.  All of these "flaws" are present in a 5th but repaired in a 6th.

U&WA (Notation: page.line: notes)

    * 17.6: top left of "m" in "movement" broken
    * 32.5-6: end of lines "string" and "would" weak print
    * 33.37: ink splotches around "In Sail"
    * 36: ink splotches around "FIGHT ON!"
