My highest bid was only a buck more....  :(

Fellow Acaeum member Davidc had a set of these up for sale for about the same price (once the Ebay fees are counted in).  He had them for sale here:

I actually ended up winning them in this auction (for a pretty good price, I think).

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it to ship them?

As you can see from the sale date, the books/modules  arrived loose in an overly large unpadded envelope.
No baggies, no packing, no backing board, no cushion for the blows of shipping. Unbelieveable!

Of course they are not in the condition stated in the listing now either.
HOW COULD THEY BE?!
Bent corners of course, and yeah im ticked off.

Listing stated this
NOPE
They came in one of those Ready Post Utility Mailer envelopes....

To the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as a Priority Mail Flat Rate Box @ $4.95. The Flat Rate Boxes start at around $10.00 and up. That should have been your first flag...

Granted, he still could have put it in some sort of box and put a Priority Mail stamp on it...

A small Flat Rate Priority Box does exist; it is roughly the size of two paperback books.  Postage is/was around $4.80.

Some sellers do that.  Others just do whatever they want.  *sighs*

$14 AUS roughly, for sea mail.  So I won't see it for awhile, but a good price.

The guy must be using some sort of automatic shipping calculator to end up with rates that high.  I wonder if he is even aware of the problem.

I think I have bought from them before. I don't think they were shipping thieves. Probably just an error in the calculator - weight at 20 lb instead of 2 lb or something like that.

This happens often when you use turbolister and copy listings...

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

They have a store in Louisville that's a lot of fun to shop...never know what you'll find there.

I was going to read back through the thread and compile a list of all seller names that appear.

I quit after discovering a lot of people just linked an auction and never typed the name.  The auction links are, of course, unavailable now, and therefore useless.

Please actually cite the user name(s) involved in your post.

I did that ONCE before and was almost run outa here.
It was actually on the silly price thread, but not too much out of context with your post.
It turns out the guy was a long time member here, although as far as I could tell (Once I was vigorously made aware of his membership), he had not posted for years.
He had some friends and backers though and they made it clear that I had no right to post anything about ANY member here.
It did not matter one little bit that the price he was asking for the item was in fact rediculous.

So first be sure they are not members before posting any names......

Either that or simply post the URL to the auction in question and leave it at that.

Huh?

When did this happen?

The only thing I remember along those lines was when you and Dark Seraphim had a falling out and without getting into the gory details that had nothing to do with the Silliest Price thread.
