Reported. It'll get pulled — eBay hates the "fee circumvention" thing.

Also: what a douchebag that seller is.

I also reported Douchey. Can't believe it's still up there.

I bought mine at Gencon...but I don't remember it being in shrink...

Can anyone dis/prove me on this?

Seller has excellent feedback, just seems a little odd.

Mine did not come in the mail shrinkwrapped.  If it had been wrapped in anything it might not have been destroyed in shipping.

Wow, I've made the shady dealers thread.

I bought a number from FRP games and they arrived shrinked (shrunk? shrunked?). Orignal shipping box (and I may have the invoice as well in there) included.

Which is mentioned in the auction description.

I've been on ebay for 13 years and selling on rec.games.frp.marketplace a few years before that. Any reason you dump this as a shady deal without emailing me to even ask about it?

The shrink is fine although not sure if it ever was determined if TLG or the distributor put it on.

The price is about double what it would sell for in an open auction - not surprising for this seller though (his BIN prices are generally 2X or 3X the going rate).

The same seller working with the same distributor had unshrunk copies first, then shrunk copies later. Either is fine, but to begin with TLG was certainly /not/ shrinking them.
I don't think it was determined for certain who was doing the SWing later on but I thought the finger was pointing more to the distributor?

$150 sounds about right; perhaps $175-ish max?

Wow, I got $279 for my last one. At this point I'd buy to resell copies in shrink at $150 or $175

You did /very/ well as they've gone below $150. Shrink shouldn't /really/ make a jot of difference for the set as that only guarantees a later copy which could easily have damp & friction damaged books inside: some people can be kinda irrational, though. ;)

I can understand that you might not be aware that the seller is a long time member on the forum (under a different name), but try emailing first. Posting your question in here is like saying he's guilty until proven innocent. There are cases of sellers putting up bogus shrink jobs and copied stuff (that guy with the printed Orange B3 from several months ago comes to mind), but lumping Jason in with people like that is not right.

To JasonZavoda - certainly did NOT mean to insult you or anything - as I stated in my initial posting, you had awesome feedback, so I wasn't questioning the "legitness" of you as a seller.

My question was more of the fact that, AFAIK, CZ: UW wasn't sold in shrink, so to see a copy of it IN shrink raised my eyebrows.

Lesson learned, and from here on out, guys, I will be doing that. Your assumption that I didn't know he was a long time seller on this forum IS a correct one - guess I need to bookmark the Acaeum seller EBAY ID's page.

There is a thread recently revived, but its not comprehensive as far as I know.

I certainly couldn't call members and their ebay IDs on here, so that can't be helped.

:)

No big deal, but this thread and the acaeum carry a lot of weight in the collecting world, so it isn't about being insulted, it's about reputation. Posting here usually means you've been screwed by a seller, direct personal experience that the dealer is shady. There are a couple of threads about high priced or overpriced items on ebay, and feel free to start a new thread anytime about a specific question.

FRP games did sell these in shrink. I have no idea at what point the shrink was put on. There may be an official statement from TLG saying they didn't but I don't have a link to one. It may have been shrinked at the distributor, or even retailer level (though I'm not sure if FRP games is just a retailer or a retailer/distriputor).

They should have all been put in shrink by TLG or where they were assembled because, while this is a fabulous boxed set as far as content, the production quality as far as the cardboard and ink used is low. These boxes get shelf wear, the tear, the glue holding the paper to the cardboard comes undone or was never put on properly. The ink from the interior books will rub against the low quality white paper of the some of the booklets and stain them.

As the original owner of the sets I have I can attest to the fact that they arrived in shrinkwrap direct from a retailer as well as the condition that can be seen beneath the shrinkwrap. That is one of the reasons I put a high value on the few copies I received in shrink. It is also one of the reasons I kept the original shipping box and invoice to go a little beyond my own word.

Yeah, I was jasonzavoda on ebay until I switched my internet service and then ebay wouldn't let me use my own name as my id (despite having been a member since 1997) That loss of name recognition reminds me everyday of why I hate ebay.
