So far, the articles I have read have not told me anything really new.

Pretty much, gamers are intellectual and enjoy reading.  They tend to be male (duh) and they like computers.  Hmm.

There isn't much in the way of recent articles.  I just did a quick journal search through JSTOR, and the majority of recent stuff refers to D&D only obliquely - through studies of online immersive rpgs. A LexisNexis search on newspapers (English lang. only) also mentions D&D mostly in reference to online games and by way of biographical detail on personalities (e.g. "Mr x used to play Dungeons and Dragons as a kid, but now blah blah blah...").  As a paper and pencil phenomenon, not much out there now.  

Although I did spot a profits warning from Games Workshop dated Jan of this year   :wink:
