I don't think the Lizardman buckle was broken but they did have one of the others in both unbroken and broken clasp form.  I seem to think that they were cheaper than the Lizardman one.  Something like $45 and $25 each.

I just did a google search and found this cached:

Noble Knight Games - Inventory
--------------------------------
As Of Sunday, March 25, 2007

TSR Belt Buckle (Wizard Logo) (Other) NM  Price: $25.00
TSR Lizardman Belt Buckle (Other) EX (protruding piece on back of buckle broke, but present) Price: $35.00
TSR Lizardman Belt Buckle (Other) EX  Price: $75.00
TSR Staff Belt Buckle (Other) NM  Price: $35.00

The April 7th inventory is missing the broken one, but has the other three.

So we were both right!

Seems like a bargain now...although this was a "celebrity auction".

I looked these up on NK when the auctions started.  I'm now thinking I should have bought the lot of them :)  That's hindsight for ya.

Yes, Bill was pretty excited about the results. Thanks again for everyone's bids! I appreciate the continued support of The Collector's Trove.

Howdy,

or if they have $308 again for the staff only wizard logo buckle not in that sale? lol

That would be nice but the RPGA Copper Prize Buckle is certainly the rarer of the two.

For comparison, the buckles auctioned from the Sutherland Collection went for $150 for the TSR brass lizardman logo (won by invincible_overlord), $103 for the TSR brass wizard face logo (won by harami2000), and $129 for the TSR employee pewter buckle (won by burntwire). Iwould say those are on par with the buckles in the Bill Hoyer Collection.

I had forgotten about those:  I'd noticed them before, but decided at the time that I didn't want to spend that much on them (heh)....
